2020 has been an extraordinary year
New words like pandemic and social distancing became part of our everyday vocabularies.
Who knew toilet paper would become a coveted thing?
We missed family, friends, handshakes and hugs.
Masks became the hot fashion accessory!
One thing that didn’t change, or slow down during 2020, was cancer, and the dreaded cancer diagnoses. Mothers and families were dealing with that news ON TOP of all the unusual changes that 2020 brought. Throughout these unsettling days, the Helene Foundation continued to be there for these women and their families. We adjusted services when needed, such as adding additional food/meal assistance to help with children being home all day. We helped with school supplies, increased gas cards and addressed childcare needs. The needs in our community continue to be great. In the past two weeks alone, we have established services for 4 new families.
The Helene Foundation could not have survived this long and winding year without our community. You embraced our fundraisers and selflessly gave all year long to make sure these women weren’t alone and knew they had support behind them. Our moms felt that support, and we did too.
I want to extend many socially distanced hugs to you as a HUGE thank you. We made it through these past 9 months with you and because of you. Our community has shown us that anything is possible when we come together. We wish you the best for 2021!
Thank you!
