SOLO & ENSEMBLE INFORMATION | |
|
Solo and Ensemble
About our LOCAL Solo and Ensemble: 6th grade (select 7/8 graders)
Our Local Solo and Ensemble is a music festival for all 6th grade from Band, Choir, and Orchestra at L.G.M.S. Students have been given a solo (performed by themselves) or a duet (performed with a partner) selection that they will perform for an adjudicator. The adjudicator provides written and verbal critique of the performance. This is a required music department event. The festival takes place from 3 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21st at Lake Geneva Middle School, but the students are only required to attend their event(s) and are not required to be there the entire evening. However, many students do stay to watch their classmates perform. Friends and family members are allowed to watch any of the performances. All of the music students have received their musical selections and should be working diligently on preparing for this event.
6th grade students who earn top ratings AND perform a solo that is found on the WSMA Solo and Ensemble list may qualify for District Solo and Ensemble.
District (WSMA) Solo and Ensemble: Grade 7/8 (select 6th graders)
District Solo and Ensemble is a music festival for all 7th and 8th grade Band, Choir, and Orchestra participants. This festival is also open to surrounding school districts and Badger High School. All students will select a solo and/or ensemble that they will perform for an adjudicator. That solo must be from the approved WSMA list. The adjudicator will provide written and verbal critique, and a score for the performance. This is a required LGMS music event. The festival takes place from 8 a.m – 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 1st at Lake Geneva Middle School, but students are only required to attend their event(s). Friends and family members are allowed to watch any of the performances. All of the music students have received their musical selections and should be working diligently on preparing for this event.
State (WSMA) Solo and Ensemble: Select students
If students perform a Class A solo and/or ensemble at the District Festival and receive a 1* they will advance to the State Solo and Ensemble. This is held in the spring (likely on May 3). Usually only high school students play Class A and make it to State.

NJHS members would like to take a moment to thank all the students, families, and staff who generously donated to the Books, Blankets, and Stuffies Drive. Your kindness and support will make a real difference in the lives of many children in Lake Geneva. Thanks to your donations, many kids will receive new books to read, warm blankets to keep cozy, and cuddly stuffed animals to hug during difficult times. These simple items can bring so much joy and comfort to these children. We are proud to be part of such a caring school and community. Your contributions show that we can all make a positive impact, no matter how big or small our donations are.

| WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME | |
|
When to Send Your Child to School
or Keep Them Home?
At Lake Geneva Schools, we know that regular attendance is key to academic success! Being in class daily helps students build strong habits, stay engaged, and gain valuable social skills. However, we also want to maintain a healthy, germ-free learning environment.
Use this guide (https://bit.ly/healthyLGS) to help decide when your child should attend school or stay home to recover. If your child has a fever over 100.4°F, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 24 hours, it's best for them to rest at home. For minor symptoms like a runny nose, if there’s no fever, they’re ready for class!
When in doubt, contact the school health office, and let's work together to keep everyone healthy and learning!

Lake Geneva Schools has the ability to use SMS (text) messaging as another communication channel to share important information with families and staff regarding school closures or changes to the school day schedule. Federal law requires recipients to opt-in to receive such messages.
How can I opt-in to receive text messages?
📱Text the word “YES” or Y to 67587 from each wireless device on which you wish to receive texts.
📱Confirm that all text device numbers you wish to receive messages on are listed in your contact information: Families – verify that your cell phone is your primary phone number in your PowerSchool parent portal. If you are having difficulty making changes in Powerschool, feel free to call the main office at LGMS at 262-348-3000 if you need to change your phone number or make any other changes.

|
Whom do I contact with a question or suggestion?
Lake Geneva Schools’ communication protocols help promote direct, open, and respectful interactions so that we quickly and efficiently resolve problems and concerns. The communication protocol starts with the staff member closest to the situation, as that person usually has the most information. However, at times, additional personnel are required to resolve specific concerns.
