ASK ANDREW #3
Cuomo COVID Orphans' Weekly Series of Still Unanswered Questions for NYC Press Corps to Ask Andrew Cuomo
"Were you following federal guidance, or not?"
BROOKLYN, NY... The Cuomo COVID Orphans released the latest still unanswered questions for reporters to ask former Governor Andrew Cuomo as part of their weekly series, called ASK ANDREW. Cuomo rescinded his March 25th, 2020 nursing home directive after six deadly weeks on May 10th, 2020 (video transcript here) via Executive Order 202.30. Now the Cuomo administration was requiring patients to test negative before being transferred to nursing homes, while also mandating nursing homes to test all staff twice a week. Most importantly: Executive Order 202.30, states, "Hospitals Cannot Discharge a Patient to a Nursing Home Unless That Patient Tests Negative for COVID-19.”
This week's ASK ANDREW
- On May 10, 2020 when you suspended the March 25th directive, was that you STOPPING following the Trump CDC/CMS federal guidelines? Or was when you STARTED following the federal guidelines when you halted sending COVID positive patients into nursing homes?
- Could you explain why on May 10th when suspending your directive, you claimed you were following the federal guidelines, but you failed to state that nursing homes still had to follow the CDC/CMS guidelines and infection control protocols?
Governor Andrew Cuomo stated at this press conference on May 12, 2020: "Reopening, yes but it still means we have to be smart, smart means following the CDC guidelines to begin with, follow the data follow the science we said that from day one, don't fall subject to emotion and politics stay with the science and the data, listen to Dr. Fauci even this morning said if you don't follow the CDC guidelines you run a real risk of triggering an outbreak that can get out of control."
