President's Reception Honors Eight

The LGLC presented eight prestigious awards to deserving organizations and individuals during its 13th annual President’s Reception, Thursday, August 20. Underwritten by Lora and Craig Treiber, the President’s Reception was hosted by the Singer family at their lakefront home in Ticonderoga, and attended by the LGLC’s top donors and supporters over the past year.

The Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program (APIPP) received this year’s Henry M. Rowan Conservation Award, in recognition of their steadfast partnership with the LGLC and other organizations throughout the Adirondack Park on invasive species research, management, education, and advocacy.

The award was presented by LGLC Advisory Board Member and Director Emeritus Ginny Rowan Smith, and accepted by APIPP Program Director Brian Greene, on behalf of APIPP funding hosts from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and The Nature Conservancy.

Apperson Society honorees included The Makowski Trust, which advanced to the silver level, and six new members at the bronze level: Diane (Marr) and John Asiel, Phil and Lenore Defliese, Joy and Sam Grafton, Caren Hoffman and her late father Donald Hoffman, The Robert and Lisa Moser Family Foundation, and Steven and Janine Racanelli.

Celebrating Rob Singer

We are pleased to announce the addition of Rick Spann to the LGLC Board of Directors, and Rebecca Feigen to the LGLC Advisory Board.

Rick retired in March of 2025 after a successful career in manufacturing and supply chain management, most recently serving as the Chief Supply Chain Officer at Church and Dwight, a consumer products company best known for the Arm and Hammer brand. He and his wife, Evelyn, fell in love with Lake George after several camping trips to the lake with the family when the children were young. They purchased a home in Gull Bay in 2010, which has become a cherished gathering spot for family and friends.

Rebecca is the Managing Principal of Waverly Management, a Philadelphia-based real estate management company, where she oversees the firm’s operations, real estate portfolio, and long-term strategy. Her lifelong connection to Lake George has given her a deep appreciation for the lake, its surrounding landscape, and the importance of preserving the natural character of the region.

Outgoing Board Member Rob Singer will also continue his involvement as an Advisory Board Member, having completed his term limit of 9 consecutive years on the LGLC Board of Directors. Rob also previously served on the LGLC Board from 2003-2016, followed by one year on the Advisory Board.

Rob's grandfather first came to Heart Bay in Ticonderoga with his family in 1941, and his children represent the fourth generation of the family at Lake George. The extended Singer family, including his two sisters and their children continue to spend summers on Heart Bay enjoying the company of neighbors whose parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents have over the years become long-time friends because of Lake George.

Hunting & Hiking Safety During Hunting Season

As part of responsible forest and land management, the LGLC allows deer hunting on select properties, through a permit process. These properties include: Amy's Park, Anthony's Nose, Godwin Preserve, Sucker Brook Preserve, and Terzian Preserve.

Hunting applications may be submitted until September 18. All hunters are required to secure permission from the LGLC each year that they wish to hunt on an LGLC preserve.

Note that deer hunting season starts September 27 and ends December 13. Hunters are instructed to stay at least 500 feet away from any trail or property boundary. If you choose to hike at any of these preserves mentioned above, please stay on the marked trails. For your safety, we also recommend that hunters and hikers wear hunter orange, and make sure you keep any dogs leashed and in control at all times.
