Our Training Style

As with all of our training at What a Great Dog! Training Center, we utilize positive, reward-based training methods in all of our day training, group classes and private lessons. We’re excited to share how fun AND effective positive training is with people new to the techniques!

Our Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA) strategies are both humane and effective while utilizing the most recent scientific evidence for canine behavior modification. This strategy aligns with the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) position statement.

🌟 Student Spotlight: Meet Willow! 🌟

Willow is a 4-year-old Australian Cattle Dog who found her forever home with her loving family at the end of 2024. Her family gave her the recommended time to settle in before jumping into training, and then joined us at WAGD to start classes.

Since then, Willow has enjoyed multiple lessons and activities — including Barn Hunt and Nose Work — and we can’t wait to see her continue to grow and have fun!

Her owner, Karen, shared: “She is so excited to be part of a community that is supportive and accepts her!”
