Greetings, Siblings in Christ,
Fall is a season of transition in the natural world. Organizations and churches have moments of transition as well. And sometimes those moments are bittersweet.
Our Office Manager Kaitlin McSweeney has let me know that she will be leaving Christ Church at the end of this month. The economy continues to be challenging and the needs of her family have called her from part-time work into full-time employment.
| | |
Over the past two years, Kaitlin has been an exceedingly responsive and cheerful presence to us in the parish and to those in the wider community. In what can sometimes be a whirlwind in the office, Kaitlin maintained an orderly atmosphere while capably multitasking the many administrative functions of her position with skill and a smile. Just the other week, I met someone leaving the church as I was coming in who said, “Make sure you keep that Kaitlin!” Would that we could! And it wasn’t the first time I heard that.
Interviewing candidates has begun. We hope to have a new person in place to learn at Kaitlin’s side. Kaitlin has strongly indicated her willingness to pitch in where she can to smooth the transition.
| | |
As is our custom, we will collect a purse for Kaitlin as a sign of our gratitude and a symbol of our prayers as she moves into the future. If you are so inclined, please make out a check to Christ Church, with “Kaitlin purse” in the memo, and send or bring it to the church in an envelope with ATTN: NICK on the front.
Godspeed, Kaitlin!

We’ll worship together at a single, special 10am worship service, giving thanks to God for our past and looking to God for the future. We’ll also kick off our Annual Appeal for 2027, whereby we pledge our financial support for our mission and ministry.

Knitting Ministry Updates
Fall is here and once again we invite parishioners to knit, crochet - or even purchase hats for our MANNA friends. Hats may be dropped off at the office no later than Dec. 10th. Many thanks to all who donated in the past and in the months ahead. The knitting ministry meets on the 2nd Monday of the month in the Memorial Room at 10am. All are welcome!

Needed: Glass Jars for Altar Flowers
Every week, our Altar Guild prepares flowers to go from our altar to the homes of a parishioner in need of cheer. Glass jars - Mason jars, used spaghetti sauce jars, with labels removed - make the perfect vase! Please bring your jars to the church and leave them in the office. Thank you!

Community Concerns Spotlight
Each year the Community Concerns Ministry of Christ Church is granted budgeted dollars to disburse to a number of needy local, national and international organizations. In 2026 more than 20 of these groups will be served with a total of $15,500. The Ministry continues to do its part to help alleviate hardship and provide for the health and dignity of all. During the next several months we will offer the congregation quick updates on these organizations and the services they extend. Ministry members are Susan Barber, Harding Ounanian Jr, Christine Ruddy and Donna Vello. New Members are always welcome.

Circle of Hope
Circle of Hope is a nonprofit organization based in Needham and began its collections and donations services in 2008 in a home adjacent to Christ Church. In fact, many Circle of Hope volunteers were Christ Church parishioners. Circle of Hope provides individuals and families experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity with clothing and hygiene essentials to promote health and opportunity. Relying on a strong network of volunteers and donors and making regular deliveries of seasonally appropriate clothing, shoes, bedding, and hygiene essentials schools, first responders, and community
organizations, Circle of Hope promotes physical and mental health and fosters opportunities for thousands of people in need.
On an ongoing basis, Circle of Hope serves 43 homeless shelters, schools, first responder, and healthcare centers in Boston and MetroWest. In 2025, Circle of Hope served more than 35,000 people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity-- an 11% increase over the previous year. To find out more, visit circleofhopeonline.org.
