Welcome to the Week of September 28

September 25, 2026

Warm greetings, Griffin Families,

Many, many thanks for your immense generosity in donating $53,770 for this year’s Big Give! We are well on our way to our combined Great Hearts Northern Oaks Lower and Upper School community investment goal of $515,000 for the school year. Your donations bridge the gap between our state character school funding and our campus operating budgets, and we are so grateful for your financial gifts.

Next week, we will celebrate our Northern Oaks community during Homecoming Week! Every year, our teachers, students, and parents unite in friendship, fun, athletic competition, thumos, school spirit, and for the high schoolers—dancing! Our student leadership committees have been working hard to plan theme days, activities, events, decorations, and the high school dance. The spirit committee spent hours this weekend decorating our hallways and gym, and they will be leading our school in lively dress-up days, a pep rally, and student dress-out days at our athletic home games. Our dance committee has been busy hosting dance lessons for high schoolers and, so far, has practiced the waltz and swing dancing, and this week they will continue practicing two-step and group dances (including Marie’s Wedding!).

Please refer to this Homecoming Week email for everything you need to know about next week’s events and celebrations; information is also available below.

Note about the Academic Advisory Council: Last week, our Northern Oaks Academic Advisory Council held its first meeting of the year. Many thanks to AAC member Mrs. Brittany Sciarillo for providing a summary of the meeting notes. You can read the Q1 AAC meeting summary here. Communication about the upper school grade visibility initiative is forthcoming!

We look forward to celebrating our Griffin Nation during this year’s Homecoming Week!

With devotion,

Robert Funes | Headmaster Upper School
