From Fr. Jonathan +

Seasons greetings people of Resurrection,

I hope you are having a merry and bright Christmastide as well as a wonderful few days with family, friends, or other community. Yet, I hope it has been more than simply a social occasion. We are called to reflect that because of the love of God for us, the divine logos through which the world came into being took on humanity. As the prophet Isaiah said, “For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Christmastide is the season between Christmas Eve through Epiphany. We celebrate the twelve days of Christmas, Celebrating Jesus’s birth through the recognition of his kingship by the wise men. In the incarnation, the world changed forever. Have fun. Celebrate! Yet, let your celebration not simply be a break from your worldly routine, but a reminder that a child has been born for us, a child through which all things have changed. Let our lives be filled with the love of God and let our actions reflect the change and renewal heralded by the birth of Jesus.

Merry Christmas,

Fr. Jonathan +
