Dear Residents -
Well, we survived the first big snow storm of the season. Personally, I hope it’s the last one too! I want to thank our Highway Department staff who were out plowing until the early morning hours to make sure our roads were safe to travel on.
With the prolonged freezing temperatures that followed, our dedicated Parks & Recreation staff were out on the pond at Veterans Memorial Park clearing the snow, getting it ready for those who are crazy enough to want to ice skate. If you happen to be one of them, please note that the ice thickness is measured daily and flags are put out—green means it is safe for skating and red it is not. For your safety, please always observe the flags.
With the new year, I wanted to remind everyone about our Food Scrap Recycling Program. In 2024, we diverted 108,480 pounds of food waste from the landfill—which is 300 miles away—up from 92,000 pounds in 2023. And, this year we have already diverted 10,500 pounds. Plus, thanks to a grant, we can now offer residents food scrap recycling bins free of charge—so there is no better time to try the program. For more information, visit our website HERE or call my office at (845) 359-5100 x2293.
The next Town Board meeting is Tuesday, January 28, 2025. As always, the scheduled public hearings are noted in the “IMPORTANT NEWS” box below. To stay informed, always remember to check out the box. And if you cannot attend a Town Board meeting in person, you can view it on Facebook Live, Optimum channel 78, Verizon FIOS channel 30 or on YouTube HERE the following day.
Whether you decide to ice skate or, like me, stay inside, put on a fire and enjoy a hot chocolate or a hot toddy, stay warm and enjoy your weekend!
Regards,
