New Hours of Operation

Effective August 1, 2023, Community Paramedicine service hours are 8 am - 10 pm EST, 7 days a week.

New Service

Home X-Ray

Portable diagnostic imaging (core, hips / pelvis, and/or extremity x-rays, ultrasound of the legs, etc.) is now included in Community Paramedicine services.

How it works

The patient will be notified that they will receive diagnostic imaging services, possibly pay a co-pay (<$100), and will have a technician arrive within 24 hours.
Results are shared with the patient, the clinical care team, and others as needed. Any outstanding results are immediately escalated.
Total turnaround time is generally 4-6 hours.

Expedited Care Management Referrals

Patients with Complex Social Needs?

Do you have patients with complex social needs and/or facing obstacles managing their chronic conditions such as multiple no-shows, difficulties with medication adherence? Refer them to MSHP Care Management.

MSHP Care Managemen t offers expedited follow-up for referrals made by providers enrolled in the CP program. Every CP visit can be followed by an urgent referral to the MSHP Care Management program.

Program Highlights

Decrease in Transport Rates

In our third quarter (April, May and June) we experienced a decrease in transport rates. During this time period, 69% of our calls were not transported and patients were able to be cared for at home and avoided an Emergency Department visit.

Read our X-Ray Case

We recently partnered with NY Home X-Ray to further diagnose a patient who, fortunately, stayed home and out of the Emergency Department. Details include:

A chest x-ray performed in the patient's home that ultimately discovered a lung mass. Early detection and prompt follow-up occurred following the study.
The technology was fast, efficient, and accurate. The radiographs were simple to read and the technician was easily reached to perform the study.
The patient fortunately stayed home and managed to receive an evaluation and appropriate treatment outside of the hospital.

We have moved to Zoom

Community Paramedicine is using Zoom as our primary telehealth platform. Physicians will connect directly to the medic and patient via a Zoom meeting room that is launched through our electronic health record system Epic.
