Segment 1 (I-405 to Yale Avenue)

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Crews will continue with general highway construction, including electrical work and striping on the northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) sides of I-5 and SR-133. Nighttime freeway lane closures, as well as full ramp and connector closures will be necessary as early as 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 and continuing intermittently until 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Anticipated Work Hours

Daytime: As early as 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Nighttime: As early as 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

*This work may be loud and ongoing. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

*Freeway and street lane closures will occur regularly throughout the duration of the project's construction. At least one lane will be open to traffic at all times, unless otherwise specified. See closure section above for more information.

Segment 2 (Yale Avenue to SR-55)

BRIDGE WORK AND FULL ROAD CLOSURES AT JAMBOREE ROAD/I-5 BRIDGE

Nighttime construction activities and closures are expected for bridge work at the Jamboree Road/I-5 bridge. This work requires full road closures of eastbound (EB) and westbound (WB) Jamboree at I-5. Crews are expected to alternate work and closures between both sides of Jamboree.

Anticipated Schedule

Thursday night, Oct. 22.

Anticipated Work Hours

Daytime: As early as 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Nighttime: As early as 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

CIDH ACTIVITIES AT PETERS CANYON HIKING & RIDING TRAIL/I-5 BRIDGE

Daytime construction activities will continue at the I-5 Peters Canyon Hiking and Riding Trail Bridge for cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) work.

Intermittent full closures of the Peters Canyon Hiking and Riding Trail at I-5 may occur through late 2026 for moving equipment in the construction area.

At least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times, unless otherwise noted.

Anticipated Schedule

CIDH Work: Ongoing through the week of Oct. 19.

Anticipated Work Hours

Daytime: As early as 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Nighttime: As early as 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

RETAINING WALL AND SOUND WALL CONSTRUCTION

Retaining wall (RW) and sound wall (SW) construction activities, including demolition, CIDH work, and wall construction, are ongoing and expected to continue along NB and SB I-5.

Nighttime activities are expected along NB I-5 near the Culver Drive on-ramp as early as Monday, Oct. 19 through Friday, Oct. 30, for dirt removal.

Closures

Daytime work is anticipated to occur behind concrete barriers and nighttime work requires intermittent NB and SB I-5 lane closures and related on-and-off-ramps.

Anticipated Work Hours

Daytime: As early as 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Nighttime: As early as 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Crews continue general highway construction activities on and along NB and SB I-5. Nighttime freeway lane closures and full road and ramp closures will be necessary as early as 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 and continuing intermittently until 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.

City of Irvine Long-Term Closure

Please note: Ongoing through October, the City of Irvine and Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD) will continue water relocation activities on Culver near the I-5 bridge. This work requires WB Culver under the bridge to be reduced to one lane. Work and lane closures are expected Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Friday, Oct. 16, crews are scheduled to work and carry out closures from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. for tie-in water pipeline activities. Please contact the City of Irvine or IRWD for more information.
