SPANISH NEWSLETTER : MENSAJE DEL DIRECTOR PEREZ
Greetings Bristol Grade School Families,
Our first full week of school has been an exciting time for our students and staff to get to know each other and settle into the wonderful opportunities for learning here at Bristol Grade School. Our Den has come alive with music, reading, discussion, art, and active play. We are preparing ourselves for some upcoming events that will showcase what we do and why we do the many wonderful things that define us as a school community.
First , we will be starting our MAP testing that will show what we know. Map testing for the beginning of the year begins this upcoming week and we need your support from home.
- Please make sure you send students with a charged Chromebook daily and a set of WIRED headphones. Headphones were a school supply list item and it is hygienically best if students have a set of WIRED headphones to themselves. These can be placed in a clear zip lock bag and labeled with their name.
We also have an opportunity for you to meet our amazing staff and get to see our building in all its glory. Please see the attached information below on this newsletter for more information on our book fair and curriculum night.
Speaking of amazing staff, this week we showed some kindness and gratitude to our custodians, Ms. Maria and Mr. Brad. Students were highly positive and super energized to thank the individuals who make our school such an amazing place to learn and live. Here is a link to a video of the event: Custodian Celebration
We are looking for additional help with our lunch and recess times. It is the first time for these long days and for at-school lunch and recess for our first graders and kindergartners. Our student numbers are high this year and every helping hand is appreciated. Our lunches are from 11:30-1:00. Please reach out to me if you are interested in being a lunch/recess supervisor as staff or as a volunteer parent. There are procedures and processes in place for safety concerns such as background checks and fingerprinting that must be met for hiring and volunteering, but it is a great opportunity to interact with the school and be a part of your child’s day for that time. For any questions about how to help, reach out to me at vperez@y115.org.
Finally, please continue to do what you can to send students in with a healthy snack for the day. All grade levels have a time for snacks outside of lunch.
Thank you for a wonderful first full week of sending us your very best treasures. We hope to repeat this enthusiasm for school and community throughout the year.
NEWS TO REVIEW
DROP OFF & PICK UP:
- Please continue to follow the procedures in place. Have your student's name displayed and have them exit on the right (rear passenger side) of the vehicle.
- Do not pass buses and watch for any student walkers.
- After drop off or pick up, turn left from the parking lot onto West St. then left onto North St. to exit back onto Cannonball. Avoid turning onto Hunt St. while buses and cones are in place.
- Remember not to call for students until your vehicle is called forward. We do not want them running to the cars before we send them.
Office and Building Access
- If you are in need of the front office, please buzz in to our main entrance on Hunt St. You will be greeted and asked for your purpose.
- Please call the office before 2:00 p.m. if plans for busing or pick up need to be changed.
Transportation
- We have been taking some time to make sure our young students know where they go for their buses and pick up. These last few days we have had to hold on to buses slightly longer than usual to triple check that students are where they need to be. We ask you to please be patient as we get our times and process in order so that students can get home safely. With time and practice, our transportation procedures should be smoother and safe for all.
Immunizations and Medical Procedures
We are very lucky to have Lisa Williams join our team as our nurse.
-
Kindergarten and New Students to the building need a copy of their physical, immunizations, dental and eye exam records on file.
-
2nd Graders need dental records on file
- All medical documentations are due to the office by October 1st, except for dental records which are not due until May 15th 2023.
LUNCH
- This year, lunches are once again paid for by families. Please talk with your child about lunches as we have had some little ones still want some hot lunches and milk. If you want them to take those items, please make sure you add the necessary funds to their accounts. Please see the detailed information below.
