While most people never see the complex infrastructure behind large commercial and institutional facilities, these systems play an essential role in supporting their operation. For this project, IWS was contracted to support the construction of a newly designed fountain at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C.
Working as a subcontractor to FountainCraft Manufacturing, IWS was responsible for the fabrication and installation of the stainless steel hydronic piping system consisting of 20-inch, 14-inch, and 4-inch piping. The project required specialized welding expertise, precise fabrication, and careful coordination to ensure the system was installed to the project's specifications and quality requirements.
Executing work within an occupied federal facility presents its own unique challenges. Construction activities must be carefully coordinated around building operations, general contractor schedules, site access requirements, and the activities of other subcontractors. Maintaining project milestones while upholding strict standards for safety, quality, and productivity requires experience, adaptability, and effective communication between all parties involved.
Throughout the project, IWS successfully navigated these challenges, meeting and exceeding schedule expectations without compromising workmanship or safety. Through proactive planning, coordination, and the technical capabilities of our skilled workforce, we delivered a completed piping system that exceeded the quality expectations of both the general contractor and the customer.
Projects like this demonstrate what IWS is built for: technically demanding piping installations where precision, coordination, and quality execution are essential to success.
