4th July Card - Usa Flag With Sparkler On Black Stone And Abstract Bokeh - Independence Day Text

Dear traveler,

The prevailing heat waves this year have proven excessive as we embrace the peak of summer's offerings, characterized by abundant daylight, pleasant warm nights, and nature displaying its vibrant hues. As we approach the Fourth of July holiday, Spiekermann Travel extends our warmest wishes to you and your loved ones. Being so thrilled to see the terrible conflict that took place between Israel and Iran has ended thankfully very fast, we are grateful to see peace restored in the region.

Looking ahead to the fall of 2025 and the forthcoming year of 2026, we are excited to outline our planned itineraries. In the remaining summer months, our focus will primarily be on our Papua New Guinea tour, alongside the scheduled departures to Poland, the Baltic States, Uganda, Rwanda & Burundi as well as the Indian Ocean Islands’ tour.

Our tour to the Mosaic of the Balkans (Sep 27 - Oct 13, 2025) has only ONE spot left. The Balkans region is a captivating tapestry of cultures, where diverse ethnic traditions, deep historical roots, and stunning natural landscapes converge. This remarkable corner of Europe invites you to discover its lesser-explored gems—Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Kosovo, and Bosnia & Herzegovina—each offering a unique blend of heritage and charm.

Along the Adriatic coastline, peaceful villages rest beside crystal-clear turquoise bays, while inland, dramatic mountain ranges shelter ancient Christian monasteries, centuries-old churches, serene lakes, and cascading waterfalls. The region is a living museum of history: wander through Roman ruins and medieval fortresses, lose yourself in the vibrant energy of Turkish bazaars, and marvel at Ottoman citadels, elegant mosques, and Austro-Hungarian architectural masterpieces. Many of these cultural and historical sites have earned the distinction of UNESCO World Heritage status.

Come and uncover the enduring beauty and rich stories of the Balkans. Let its timeless landscapes, layered histories, and warm hospitality leave an unforgettable mark—join us and experience the secrets of this extraordinary region for yourself.

Although modest in size, our upcoming tour of Northern Greece, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Romania (Sep 27 - Oct 12, 2025) promises an unforgettable journey through the cultural and scenic heartlands of Eastern Europe. This carefully curated route is rich with charm—featuring idyllic villages, vibrant monasteries and churches, and culminating in the awe-inspiring, sky-perched monasteries of Meteors in Northern Greece. The tour’s focus is on the breathtaking mountain landscapes and the exquisite, jewel-like rural communities, farms, and religious sanctuaries that dot the countryside of these four remarkable nations.

Travel through regions where traditional agrarian life still thrives—a way of life that once shaped much of Europe but has all but vanished from the West. Here, age-old customs are kept alive through masterful crafts, spirited folk music, and celebratory dance. Overnight stays are often in enchanting medieval towns—fortified burgs originally founded by Saxon settlers—offering a rich sense of historical continuity and charm.

In Romania, you will savor a unique culinary tapestry, where local traditions are infused with Hungarian flavors, and sample wines from some of Eastern Europe’s oldest vineyards. Bulgaria, though one of Europe’s smallest nations, boasts a layered and dynamic history. Built atop ancient civilizations, it offers a treasure trove of Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman relics surrounded by serene lakes and interlaced rivers.

Macedonia enchants with its deep historical roots and pristine natural landscapes, while Northern Greece captivates with majestic archaeological wonders, maze-like mountain villages, and the vibrant city of Thessaloniki—whose radiant Byzantine legacy is second only to that of Constantinople itself.

Join us on this extraordinary tour to experience a Europe that feels both timeless and undiscovered journey where history, culture, and natural beauty converge.

With its rich blend of Phoenician, Roman, Islamic, and French heritage, Tunisia offers an extraordinary cultural tapestry. Algeria, vast and mesmerizing, is a land where history and nature intertwine on a grand scale. From the Mediterranean coast and the lush Atlas Mountains to the infinite sands of the Sahara, Algeria enchants at every turn. Explore Timgad, a Roman city frozen in time; Caesarea, a once-flourishing Roman port; and Bou Saâda, a peaceful oasis town steeped in artistic heritage. Wander through the winding alleys of the Kasbah of Algiers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and marvel at the fortified city of Ghardaïa, heart of the Mozabite people. No visit would be complete without standing on the cliffs of Constantine, the dramatic “City of Bridges,” suspended over breathtaking gorges.

Come discover a land where every moment becomes a memory, and every step tells a story. The first one is Mar 11 - Mar 25, 2026 and will be led by our tour manager, David William with an extension to Kerala and the second one is from Mar 10 - Mar 24, 2027 and will be led by our Tour lecturer Michel Behar.

Another great adventure led by the amazing Michel Behar is our 15-day Morocco & the Western Sahara expedition (Mar 23 - Apr 06, 2026) that takes you into one of the least explored corners of the Sahara off-limits to foreigners for decades. Once a Spanish colony and long marked by conflict, the Western Sahara has remained hidden from the world. Now, for the first time, we're offering curious and adventurous travelers the chance to uncover the sweeping landscapes of Saguia El Hamra, Tiris Zemmour, and Rio de Oro which is now part of Morocco’s Saharan provinces.

This isn’t just a trip; it’s a true desert crossing, carefully mapped out and led by trusted local guides. Expect dramatic terrain, real cultural encounters with nomadic tribes like the legendary Reguibat, prehistoric rock art, and even a surreal boat journey through emerald lagoons tucked between ocean and dunes.

The adventure begins in Marrakesh, a city pulsing with life and color. From there, you’ll journey south to open-air markets alive with herds of sheep, goats, and camels, where blue-turbaned shepherds arrive from as far away as Mauritania.

We trace the southern reaches of the Draa River, once the dividing line between French Morocco and Spanish Sahara. In the eerie stillness of Tifnidilt’s abandoned military fort, it’s easy to feel like you’ve stepped into the scene of an old Foreign Legion film. Only the bold venture to this remote coastal region, where sand tracks disappear into cliffs and the Atlantic stretches endlessly. Fishermen cast lines from caves and rocky outcrops, and if tides allow, we’ll drive for miles along a wild, deserted beach just dunes and waves.

From here, we leave the coast and follow a riverbed through a vast canyon to enter the lands once forbidden during the long war between the Polisario Front and Morocco. The trail hugs the edge of a rugged crag between desert and sea, leading us to the Naila Lagoon, a shimmering saltwater lake hidden behind dunes. Spanning over 100 km², it’s Morocco’s largest salt lagoon and a vital stop for migrating birds like flamingos, herons, and cormorants sometimes in the tens of thousands.

Finally, we reach the Dakhla Peninsula. The landscape here is something extraordinary: a vivid palette of pastel blues, gold sands, green seaweed fields, and volcanic rock. The Rio de Oro sea loch stretches for 25 miles between cliffs and dunes. When the tide comes in, the desert floods, turning rocky outcrops and dunes into temporary islands a fleeting and otherworldly sight you won’t forget.

Pakistan, a nation of marvels and we pride ourselves on uncovering hidden gems and reintroducing destinations to adventurous travelers. In a time when concerns about safety and security overshadowed its beauty, we saw the country's potential for growth and transformation. With hope and unwavering faith, we embarked on a journey to reveal the marvels of this great, eclectic, and colorful nation. Our exploration of Pakistan began amidst the awe-inspiring Karakorum and Hindu Kush Mountain ranges in the north. Towering above are the peaks that house a breathtaking kaleidoscope of people and some of the most stunning scenery on Earth. We ventured into the remote Hunza valley, traversing the iconic rope bridges of Husseini and marveling at the untamed beauty of the Passu glacier. Immersing ourselves in the high mountains of Pakistan, we witnessed the resilience and warmth of the local communities.
