But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

Galatians 4:4-5

The word Advent means the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event. When someone important comes to town, we buy tickets for the show and cancel all other plans that day. With the holidays approaching, people are cleaning, baking, sending invites, and waiting. I remember waited endlessly for the annual school Christmas concert each year when I was a child. These days, filled with hope and anticipation, remind me of another hope; the second coming of Jesus. He has promised to return and unite us again into a forever union with God. May our hearts be filled with joy as we patiently wait for the gift of God's eternal presence.

Camp Deerpark would like to celebrate the coming of Jesus with your this advent season! Each day until Christmas, we'll send out a photo, verse, and short devotional. If you're not on the list, you can sign up here or check an archive of previous days. If you feel inspired, please share this with a friend or family member.
