A Milestone Reached

$4 Million in Neighbor Assistance

Since our very first award in 2013, The Bridge Fund (TBF) has approved over 4,000 requests, providing more than $4 million in vital support to neighbors facing hardships.

Here’s how your support has been distributed:

🏠 56% Housing & Utilities—Helping families stay in their homes by covering rent and utility bills to prevent eviction or service shutoffs.

🏥 16% Medical & Dental Expenses—Assisting with critical healthcare needs, medical bills, prescriptions and dental care.

🍽️ 7% Food Assistance—Ensuring access to nutritious meals through schools, mobile food pantries and other emergency food support initiatives.

🚗 6% Transportation—Keeping people on the move with support for gas, car repairs and transportation to work, school and medical appointments.

🤝 15% Other Essential Needs—Addressing a variety of needs such as clothing, bedding and basic household essentials.

This milestone reflects the power of your compassion and generosity. Let us share a few stories of how you have made a difference.

Polo's Progress

In 2024 and at 37 years old, Polo's life took a drastic turn when he suffered a massive stroke while on the job as a field superintendent for a construction company. At TBF’s Celebration in April, Polo shared how he spent many days in the hospital with no movement on his left side. After extensive therapy to regain minimal mobility, a doctor recommended very expensive braces, which Polo could not afford. Because of the generosity of our donors, TBF was able to fund both of these braces.

In the 3 months since Polo personally expressed his appreciation for TBF's support, he has made incredible strides, both professionally and personally. He’s back to work, currently wrapping up his first full site project, and, according to Polo, things couldn’t be going better. He even drives the work truck for his crew!

But Polo’s progress goes far beyond the workplace. The arm and leg braces allow him to walk with improved balance, to be able to grip with his left hand, and to use his fingers to type. Because of your help, Polo's dream of once again being self-sufficient and leading a normal life is a lot closer to becoming reality.

Felicia's Story

Felicia is raising 3-year-old twin girls with autism and her teenage daughter. Recently, she faced un-expected car repair expenses, just as she was preparing to start a new job as a caretaker.

Without a car, Felicia would not be able to get to work. However, the cost of the repairs made it impossible for her to pay the rent.

To help her get back on her feet, TBF covered her June rent. Thanks to you, Felicia's family is stable, and she no longer has to worry about possible eviction.

Partner Profile:

Eva's Closet and Foundation

Jessica Goodall MSW, founder of Eva's Closet and Foundation (Eva's Closet), developed a passion for social work at a young age. She was inspired by the selfless work of her great-aunt Eva, who established a shelter for abused women and children in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Eva's Closet's mission is to support individuals in need, regardless of their circumstances, without judgment or discrimination. Each month, Eva's Closet serves over 1,500 people in need of assistance in SWFL, providing essentials such as clothing, shoes, hygiene items, baby supplies (including diapers and car seats), groceries, household and school supplies and more, at no cost.

In addition to assisting with purchases of basic items that are stocked at Eva’s Closet, TBF helps individual families with rent and utility payments and other needs such as transportation and dental.

The partnership with Eva's Closet and TBF benefits both organizations. Eva's Closet can serve more of the neediest of our neighbors, and TBF is able to reach families, children and seniors who would otherwise have nowhere to turn.

"Because of the generosity and support of TBF for Eva's Closet, I have been able to assist a much greater number of at-risk children and families. I am beyond grateful." Jessica Goodall

Words of Appreciation

A mother of two, who suffered from chronic low iron levels, developed serious dental issues requiring urgent attention. Even the discounted cost of the treatment was beyond her means. TBF covered the cost of the procedures, helping to restore her health and stability.

She sends her thanks to you:

"I am out of words, to express my deepest gratitude to your organization for covering the cost of my dental work. Your support has not only eased a financial burden but also brought me comfort and peace of mind during a difficult time. Your generosity has made a real difference in my life, and I will always be thankful for your kindness." Melissa

Thank You!
