The IntraContinental Region - Women's League for Conservative Judaism

May 26, 2026/11 Sivan 5786

Message from Denise Mosk, President

I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday, both Shavuot and Memorial Day.

Conference days have come and gone. We have a new administration that will begin on July 1, 2026. Good luck to Meryl and her crew.

Conference was amazing! The people who participated showed up to meet new people and try new things. Margie Miller was amazing as always. The synagogue and the women of Emanuel Sisterhood were gracious with their hospitality and time. Rabbi Abby and Rabbi Juan kept things on a positive note throughout our time in OKC. We can’t wait to see you again.

Thank you so much to the committee – Margie Miller, Louise Raber, Jody Jacklin, Jennifer Davis, Heather Zarfati, Kari Jonscher, and Shirley Meek. Everyone contributed to this amazing conference and we appreciate all of you.

For those of you who were not able to make the conference, her are a few hightlights.

We started off with a beautiful Havdalah service – poolside. On Sunday, we had a new delegate breakfast with Margie to talk about expectations. We had a speaker on Human Trafficking and after our membership workshop went to a Jewish Community Theater. Thank you to Roberta Sloan for sponsoring our tickets for the show. Sunday evening our very own Jennifer Dennis was murdered, just pretend and one of our attendees actually solved the crime.

On Monday, our sisterhood presidents met with Margie to talk about various issues old and new. We learned about Torah Fund, Israel, a book named “Gittel” and ended our time at the hotel with Governor Frank Keating who talked to us about the OKC bombing and the circumstances of his involvement. Great speakers make great conferences! Later, that evening, we installed the new Executive Committee and Board and had a record number of past Region and Branch presidents in attendance. A real treat. Thank you to everyone who was involved.

Our Monday night party and auction was not only fun and exciting, but successful. We raised $596. Thank you for all of the people who ran the auction.

If you did not attend our annual conference, make an effort to be there next year in St Louis!

Oklahoma City ICR Conference was a hit!

Thank you from Louise Raber-

Our ICR Conference Chair

I’d like to take a minute to echo Denise’s comments, and also add, my thank you to the OKC chairs, Heather, Jennifer, Kari and Shirley who stepped up and made the conference a success. To Denise, thank you for your leadership and guidance this year and last year in Kansas City. To Margie Miller who makes me laugh and teaches me and all of us every day. It was a joy!

As I end my position, I want to wish the incoming Region Conference Co-Chairs, Jill Goldstein and Sally Gordon good luck!

Make sure you all plan to go to our ICR Conference in St Louis in 2027, I know it will be great!!

Torah Fund

Last week was our IntraContinental Region Spring Conference in Oklahoma City. What a great way to learn about Torah Fund! We celebrated our successes together and learned how several affiliates hold events and raise their monies.

Changes are coming to the way Torah Fund donations are processed. Please let me know if you have questions about these upcoming changes. Below is the statement from Women’s League;

“Women’s League for Conservative Judaism is pleased to announce that we will assume the administration of the Torah Fund Campaign of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism, effective July 1st, 2026, marking a new chapter in the program’s proud 84-year history of supporting Conservative/Masort Jewish education and leadership. This transition will streamline operations and enable WLCJ to enhance engagement and efficiency while continuing to ensure robust support for all beneficiary instituions.”

In other words, Women’s League will be taking over the management of Torah Fund.

As of July 1, 2026, the new Torah Fund office will be located in the WLCJ offices. The address is: Torah Fund, 3080 Broadway, Suite K900, New York, NY 10027.

The new Torah Fund Campaign theme for 2026-27 is: Shema Koleinu שמע קולנו Hear our Voice.

To the right of this article (just under my picture) please check out an image of the new pin which marks 40 years since the first female cantor was invested. This year’s Torah Fund pin with its joyful women and musical symbolism expresses the right of every woman’s voice to be heard as we celebrate this anniversary.

This year’s campaign launches on July 1st. Checks will continue to be made payable to Torah Fund. The donor button on the JTS website will directly connect to the new donation page on the WLCJ website. From June 27 until June 30, 2026, the link for the on-line donations will not be operational due to the transition. Thus it is really encouraged to get all donations for the current campaign of Oseh Shalom in by June 15th so they can be processed before the transition.

As we wind down the campaign for 2025-26, I want to thank you all for helping us reach our Region Goal of $95,100.

L’Shalom,

Margie Schneider
