Message From The Dean

Welcome Back! We are now well into the fall semester and I wanted to take some time to welcome you back to campus. Let me state the obvious....2020 has been a very tough year. We spent most of last spring working remotely. The summer seemed to slip away from us and here we are marching toward the fall holidays. One constant has been that the virus is still with us. Yet, we have learned to adapt. We have demonstrated our responsibility to protect those around us by masking up and socially distancing for the community's safety. I am very proud of your resiliency and the love you have shown for each other and this CAS family. Thank you. Our faculty remain committed to providing the world-class education you have come to expect. Despite all that is happening around us, CAS has been advancing. As you may know, the Quick Center for the Performing Arts is now fully part of CAS. Quick has developed a new way of bringing performance and culture to you safely, to keep exposing you to the best and most creative minds of our times. We opened the new Media Center to bring state of the art broadcast and digital media and film capabilities to you. The Fredrickson Innovation Lab, located in the library, has ramped up their programming to ensure integration of big data and digital humanities into our curriculum. CAS has also welcomed several new faculty who have already established themselves in the classroom. Whether in a tent, classroom or via zoom, CAS has continued to strive to provide you with the education you need and deserve. I wish you all the best for this semester. I implore you to stay safe and responsible. You are part of the Stag Family, so take care of them and they will take care of you. -Dr. Richard A. Greenwald, Dean College of Arts and Sciences
