Road Closures:

Stafford St.

Stafford St. will be closed to north and south bound traffic from E Mill St. to the North Entrance of the Parking Lot by Stayer Park for construction at the Laack Block Project. The sidewalk on the east side is open. This is an extended closure until November 2026.

Both lanes of CTH E from Highway 23 to Douglas Rd (Generations) will be closed until August. This federally funded project will be for a trail extension to the Old Plank Road Trail and managed through WisDOT.

The road will be back open in time for the fair.

The second segment of this project will be 0.2 miles along the Mullet River beginning at Frederick St. going northeast, crossing the river, and continuing to meet S. Milwaukee St. The construction for this segment is expected to begin in June. There are no road closures expected at this time for this segment.

Collins St.

Collins St. from Eastern Ave. to Stafford St. will be under construction this summer as the 2025 Street Project. Hill Ct. will also be a part of this project.

City Hall Updates:

Fireworks

Unfortunately, fireworks won't be happening this year in the City of Plymouth following Mill St. Festival on July 12. In previous years, a dedicated group of community members generously took it upon themselves to organize and carry out the fireworks. However, they were unable to do it this year. There are other wonderful firework displays being offered by neighboring communities.

Eastern Ave. / North Bruns Ave. Crosswalk

Construction on Rapid Flashing Beacons at Eastern Ave and N Bruns Ave (near Piggly Wiggly) has started. The solar-powered, push-button activated pedestrian crossing sign will be similar to the ones at Eastern Ave and South St.

Dogs in Public Parks

Common Council passed Ordinance #5 of 2025 allowing dogs in public parks. Previously dogs weren't allowed in City Parks.

Friendly reminders going forward:

  • Your dog must be on a leash unless its in the fenced dog park
  • You need to pick up after your dog
  • Your dog may not be on the playground
  • Your dog must be on the walking paths in cemeteries

West Stafford Street Parking Lot

Exciting changes are coming to downtown Plymouth! The City has officially approved a project to reconstruct and expand the West Stafford Street Parking Lot. This project will improve parking access for visitors and downtown businesses, enhance pedestrian safety, and upgrade aging infrastructure. Initial construction is expected to begin later this year, with the majority of work taking place in 2026. A map of the project area is included below.

This effort is part of a larger redevelopment initiative supported by the creation of Tax Increment District #8 (TID#8). TID#8 helps fund public improvements like this parking lot while also encouraging private investment—most notably the planned Henry Christopher Hotel. Together, these projects will boost downtown vibrancy and support long-term economic growth for the Plymouth community.

Forward Fund Project

Last week, Governor Evers met with and recognized the City of Plymouth, Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC), and the Forward Fund contributors (Sargento, Masters Gallery, Kohler, Johnsonville, and Sheboygan County) for the project to build 94 new single-family homes in a subdivision off Pleasant View Rd, just south of Plymouth Furniture and St. Vincent de Paul.
