Deb Riddell is Retiring!

The team at CERAH (somewhat reluctantly!) would like to share that Deb Riddell is retiring at the end of this month. Deb has been the Educational Initiatives Assistant at CERAH since 2001, responsible for all office administration and providing program support, particularly with the Palliative Care education program. Deb has been the ‘hub’ of CERAH for many years, an integral part of the daily activities at the Centre, as well as a key contributor to our educational events.

CERAH will not be the same without Deb’s smiling face, support, and impeccable talent for getting things done!

We will miss you, and wish you nothing but the best in your retirement!

April 16 is Advance Care Planning Day in Canada. #ifnotyouwho

What matters most to you? What decisions have you made about the type of healthcare you would like? Who do you trust to speak on your behalf if you can’t speak for yourself?

Advance care planning is about your healthcare decisions and putting people in place to make those decisions for you when you can’t.

This year, during National ACP Day, ask yourself “If not you, who?”

Palliative Care Campaign
Launched by Health Canada

In March, Health Canada launched a public information campaign on palliative care. Its website Canada.ca/palliative-care now has updated web content and information targeted to support health and social service providers to engage in early conversations with their patients.

The factsheet "3 Questions to Ask Yourself That Make Difficult Conversations About Serious Illness Easier’’ was developed to help health and social service providers frame early conversations with those diagnosed with a serious illness. Also Included on the website is a bilingual communications kit for health care providers.

Information for the general public is expected in late May.
