A Message from ORES Principal Denise Francisco
|
It will be another great week to be an Oak Ridge Colt as we enter the month of March on Friday of this week. Be on the lookout for
Interim Progress Reports
to come home on Tuesday afternoon. This week is
Read Across America Week and classrooms will be celebrating literacy all week with a focus on reading diverse texts from a global and cultural perspective. There is a schedule of fun events to celebrate reading each day this week – see more information below and in your child’s classroom newsletter. Be sure to ask your child about this week-long reading celebration. We want to remind everyone to mark your calendar for
Student Led Conference Night coming up on March 20th. This is that special night when your student leads you through their classroom and highlights all the progress they are making this school year. You will not want to miss this opportunity for your child to showcase their learning! Check your child’s classroom newsletter over the next several weeks for all the details and don’t forget that the gym will also be filled that night with the
annual Summer Expo that showcases all the summer programs available to you in our surrounding community and the Media Center will be open for
Family Night at the Book Fair! The event is 3 weeks away but we want to make sure everyone has plenty of advance notice so that you do not miss this wonderful night at our school.
This past week on Thursday, your child attended a school-wide assembly hosted by our Student Council where they learned about an
upcoming Red Cross Blood Drive that will be happening at Oak Ridge Elementary on
Wednesday, March 13th from 2:00-6:30 pm. Each student is encouraged to seek two adults that they might encourage to donate blood on March 13th at Oak Ridge Elementary. The Blood Drive will be held in the school gym and we are hoping to break a record of 75 people donating blood. Thank you for considering this great opportunity to give back in our local community. Your child brought home a flyer outlining the event and asking if they have two people that they might be able to encourage to donate blood. Please ask your child about the informative assembly/presentation and also ask to see the flyer they brought home.
Have a great week,
Mrs. Francisco

I would like to give a big “Shout out” to these wonderful fifth graders:
Cooper Harding, Ella Gentel, Olivia Griffiths, Maya Mather,
and
Vegas Bellow
from Mrs. Thompson’s class. These girls work with my students every morning before school on sight word recognition, rote counting, and reading fluency. I am so proud of their leadership skills and their desire to make a difference with our young students.

We are looking for 1-2 additional Co-Chairs for our last family night of the year - STEM Night! This event will take place in April and will have tons of fun STEM activities for all of our ORES kiddos to try out.

Can you help our Dance Committee?
|
THANK YOU, THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered to make last weekend's Father/Daughter Dance such a WONDERFUL event!
We would now like to ask for your help with complimentary drycleaning for the table cloths used that evening. We had a wonderful family that provided this service, however, their children have moved on from ORES. If you know a service that might be able to take over, we would definitely recognize them in the newsletter and on our PTO website. Please email
orespto@gmail.com with suggestions. Thank you!
