Learn about the five proposals to redevelop the Main and Bank Building in downtown New Port Richey
Tampa Bay Beacons · Oct 12
Five bidders want the city-owned three-story building at 5640 Main St., from an $8.9 million science center to a $22.4 million hotel and events project with possible residential space. The CRA put the decision off to a work session around Oct. 26. Whatever wins, it is foot traffic for the downtown New Port Richey buildings that rent at $1,412.
My Take On Pasco
Moffitt opens its 250,000-square-foot research building at Speros on Oct. 22 with about 250 research staff, and says 2,400 Moffitt jobs will be on the campus by the end of this year and 11,000 across Speros by 2033. Those are the highest wages Pasco has ever added at one address, and they land on the State Road 52 side of the county. A two bedroom in New Port Richey asks $1,412 and in Port Richey $1,449. The research payroll will rent in Wesley Chapel and Land O' Lakes, not on U.S. 19. The west county trade is still a vintage trade: Buckingham Court at $132,500 a unit and Townview at $86,957. Own the west for yield and let the east have the jobs story. The one west county number that moved this month is the tax rate: Port Richey cut it to 6.25 mills, the third cut in a row, and that is more valuable to a Port Richey owner's bottom line this year than a research campus on the other side of the county.
