2026 REALTOR® Dues

We appreciate your membership and support and wanted to reshare last month’s advance notice that the 2026 dues renewal invoices will be posted on the GPBOR member portal in early September. You can expect further instructions to come from info@gprealtors.org then.

For your protection, know that the Board does not accept wires, and will never ask for your banking information, nor do we retain credit cards on file. Members will have to login to the GPBOR member portal in order to self-renew. GPBOR’s local dues will be $235 (a $10 increase year over year). The National Association’s total will remain at $201 and the RI Association of REALTORS® recently announced that their REALTOR® dues were increasing from $196.50 to $230 (first increase in 13 years).

Real Estate conveyance taxes to increase 10/1

Section 10 of the State of Rhode Island’s newly adopted budget includes a 63% increase in the real estate conveyance tax for purchases of real estate or the interest in an acquired real estate company that closes 10/1/25 or after. Even if a purchase and sales agreement is signed before October 1st, the closing date is what triggers the tax.  As of 10/1/25, on sales up to $800,000, a first-tier amount of $3.75/500 will be assessed to the seller. This rate is increasing from $2.30/500. For sales over $800,000, a $7.50/500 tax on the amount over $800,000 will be added to the first-tier amount.

QUESTION OF THE MONTH Can the REALTOR® Association suspend or revoke someone’s RI real estate license?

Answer:  No. Only the RI Department of Business Regulation’s Real Estate Division can do this following a due process procedure and hearing on the matter. You can view the State of RI statute on this subject here.

This Month in GPBOR History August 1975

As we celebrate Sally Lapides’ 50th year as a member at our Annual Meeting, we thought we’d look back at what the Rhode Island real estate market looked like in 1975—the very year she joined GPBOR!

  • Median sales price: $32,000
  • Total MLS sales volume (mid-July 1975): $50.3 million (down 12% from the year before)
  • Interest rates: 9 – 9¼% at banks, and 8½ – 9¼% at savings & loan associations

Quite the contrast to today’s market, but proof that REALTORS® have always adapted and thrived through changing times.

Tickets now on sale for our 9/30 Cultural Connections at Sharks

GPBOR invites you to this event to be co-hosted with the RI Women’s Council of REALTORS®, RI Young Professionals Network, NAHREP-Providence and the Northern RI Board of REALTORS® on 9/30 from 5:30 – 8 pm at Sharks Peruvian Restaurant, Central Falls.  Tickets available here.

Final Call - Help Support our Rhode Island Charities!

The Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign is concluding this month.  Members, friends, neighbors, and industry supporters may make donations through this link. Individual and corporate donations accepted, and donors will be recognized on social media and at our 9/10 annual meeting.
