The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Luke 13:6-9

Put a little manure on it! Jesus tells a parable about a tree that has failed to bear fruit for three years. When the owner wants to cut it down, the gardener persuades him to fertilize it and wait. Are you impatient for someone (or yourself) to bear fruit? Jesus is not quick to give up on us…maybe we just need a little more manure. 

Gracious God, You wait. You fertilize. You trust that we will one day bear fruit. May we use this season of lent to sink our roots deep into the nourishing soil and prepare ourselves to bear fruit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Our Lenten theme, Everything in Between, comes from A Sanctified Art which is a is a collective of pastors and artists in ministry who create resources for worshiping communities. Join us on Wednesday evenings at 6PM now through April 9 in Fellowship Hall for Soup Suppers. Click HERE to sign up to bring a soup, salad, side or desert. We will follow with Holden Evening Prayer in the Sanctuary at 7PM.

• Grant humility and wisdom to bishops, pastors, deacons, elders, councils, and congregations, that they may call upon you in making decisions.
• Teach your people the goodness of your generosity, that in sharing what we have been given, all life may flourish on the planet that is our shared home.
• Forge bonds of compassion and mutual care across human borders and boundaries, that all the world may have enough to live.
• Comfort those whose lives have been disrupted through natural disasters and human conflict. Aid communities in coming together to mourn, heal, and rebuild.
• Bless food pantries, community gardens and kitchens, clean water projects, and all ministries that address human hunger and thirst.
• We give thanks for the faithful lives of those who proclaimed your gospel in times of challenge and strife, and for all those whose lives of love and service have ended.

Receive the prayers of your people and draw all things together in your love, in the name of Jesus, who leads us from death to life. Amen.

Vacation Bible Camp registration is now open to currently enrolled Sunday School families. Registration for previous attendees will open Tuesday, March 25 at 9AM. If space allows, it will open the community on April 8. Click HERE to register.
