What's Happening 

Construction is progressing along Meridian Avenue between Lincoln Road and 17 Street. Throughout September the project team is awaiting final certifications for the water and sewer systems from the County and The State before completing final connections. The approvals are expected to take a few weeks. 


In addition to underground utility work crews are advancing above-ground improvements, including new sidewalks, pavers, landscaping, irrigation, lighting and other streetscape enhancements.


Sidewalk improvements are ongoing. The sidewalk on the east side of Meridian Avenue between Lincoln Road and Lincoln Lane North has reopened, including the sidewalk adjacent to Macy’s on Meridian Avenue. The east sidewalk will be complete in late September. A portion of the west sidewalk work has begun.

Timeline

The first stage of sidewalk and paver installation is complete. Stage two is anticipated to begin mid-September and will take approximately four weeks to complete.


The contractor works weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. as well as occasionally on weekends.

What to Expect

The construction fence between Lincoln Lane North and 1675 Meridian Avenue (Macy’s) will be narrowed to allow the contractor to work on a larger part of the new sidewalk. A temporary pedestrian crossing connecting the east and west sides of Meridian Avenue will remain in place during construction.

A temporary detour is in place for pedestrian access on the east side of Meridian Avenue at Lincoln Lane North where a portion of the road is closed to complete underground utility work. On the west side of Meridian Avenue, crews will continue working on curb and gutter improvements and landscape planters along the sidewalk adjacent to the parking lot.

Water, sanitary sewer and force main work are nearly complete. Crews continue to work on above-ground tasks such as sidewalks, lighting, landscaping and irrigation. Clearly marked pedestrian detours, directional signage and a temporary crosswalk will be in place to help pedestrians safely navigate the work zone and maintain access to nearby businesses.

Pedestrian access and entrances to all businesses will remain open and accessible throughout the duration of the project. Any direct impact to entrances will be coordinated with each individual business. Access to city parking lots will also be maintained at all times. Valet and ride-share operations will continue without interruption at Meridian Avenue and Lincoln Lane South.
