Letter From the President
Building Our Story Together
Dear PRCA community,
I hope you’re all enjoying the last bits of this summer season and spending time with your family and friends. While this season has offered an opportunity to recharge, it's also an important time for our association and our industry.
Every day, millions of paper receipts are printed across North America. They provide proof of purchase, support businesses, give consumers a reliable record, and remain an essential part of everyday commerce. Yet misconceptions continue to shape public perception and influence policy discussions.
As an industry, we cannot afford to let others define our story. That responsibility belongs to all of us.
Know What You're Holding is how we're taking ownership of that story. The resources there provide our community with a unified way to share the facts about paper receipts and their important role in sustainability, consumer choice, privacy, and the high manufacturing standards our members uphold every day.
I’d encourage you to start by seeing it for yourself. Watch the short videos, and take our 60-second challenge – a quick, fun quiz on what people know about paper receipts. It’s the fastest way to experience what we’re putting in front of our consumers, and I’d wager it teaches even those of us in the industry a thing or two.
From there, every PRCA member has a role to play, and it can be simple. Reshare one post a month, add the facts to a consumer conversation, or point your team to the campaign.
Every action amplifies our message and our industry’s voice. By sharing the facts, we can ensure the conversation around paper receipts is guided by accurate information rather than assumptions.
I encourage every member to make this campaign your own. Take and share the quiz, download the Receipt Safety Fact Sheet, and incorporate these resources into your own communications so our industry is represented with confidence and credibility.
The story of our work in this industry should be told by the people who know it best – us. Thank you for your continued support of PRCA, and I hope you will help tell it.
