Your Water Story: Kyle Bodine

Kyle Bodine is our featured staff member this month for the Your Water Story series!

Kyle, a Wastewater Maintenance Mechanic, may work "behind the scenes," but his position is critical to the success of the treatment facility.

Project Updates

Many important projects have been progressing at the Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility, the Biocycle Farm, and regional pump stations. We're excited to share a few glimpses into the work being done to continually improve infrastructure, reach sustainability goals, and provide excellent service to customers.

Poplar harvesting at the Biocycle Farm is moving along as planned, with Lane Forest Products cutting trees, moving and chipping logs, and stump grinding (pictured below). Poplar products can be found for sale at BRING Recycling, located at 4446 Franklin Blvd. in Glenwood.

Concrete work on aeration basin baffle walls (pictured right) is complete in basin 3 and in progress in basin 4. Workers continue to install new piping and equipment throughout the aeration system.

Staff received a look inside the nearly completed Administration & Operations building (pictured left) at the Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility.

Along with seismic upgrades and energy efficiencies, the new space incorporates poplar wood from the Biocycle Farm to showcase its many uses as a sustainable material.

Both the Willakenzie and Glenwood pump station projects continue to progress with equipment and resiliency upgrades (not pictured).

Meet a wastewater operator keeping the Willamette River clean from sewage| August 18, 2026

Fat, Oil and Grease are Garbage

Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) build up gradually in pipes. This can affect your own wastewater pipes in your home, and it can also create problems in your neighborhood pipes or regional wastewater infrastructure. Clogs and damage from FOG can lead to backups and spillovers of wastewater, and they require time, labor, and money to fix.

To help prevent this, just collect the grease after you cook and throw it in the trash! We provide free FOG kits to help make it easy, convenient, and mess-free.

Get your free FOG kit in the mail here!
