A Celebration of Creativity, Community, and Legacy

We hope you will join us on October 22 for Arts for Learning Virginia's inaugural Artoberfest Luncheon, a special gathering honoring the extraordinary legacy of Minette Bettie Cooper and celebrating the power of arts education to inspire learners and strengthen communities.

Guests will enjoy a creative luncheon experience featuring live music, interactive art activities, community leaders, and the presentation of the inaugural Minette Cooper Heart of the Arts Award.

Luncheon Program

We are honored to welcome
Raymond Jones of WHRO Public Media as our Master of Ceremonies, guiding us through an afternoon of reflection, inspiration, and celebration.

The program will feature remarks from Anna Heywood Green, CEO of Arts for Learning Virginia, who will honor Minette Cooper's extraordinary legacy and share her vision for the continued growth and impact of Arts for Learning Virginia.

Guests will also hear from David Dik, Executive Director of Young Audiences Arts for Learning National, who will speak to the power of the arts as an essential part of education and celebrate the role creativity plays in helping young people learn, connect, and flourish.

Create, Connect, and Celebrate

Artoberfest is more than a luncheon.

Guests will also enjoy a special performance by acclaimed Norfolk singer-songwriter and Arts for Learning Virginia teaching artist Roberta Lea, a member of the Black Opry and recent performer at Farm Aid.

Throughout the event, guests are invited to:

  • Explore creative engagement stations.
  • Contribute to a collaborative community art mosaic.
  • Learn more about Arts for Learning Virginia's programs and impact.
  • Connect with fellow arts advocates and community leaders.

Honoring a Champion for the Arts

A highlight of the afternoon will be the presentation of the inaugural Minette Cooper Heart of the Arts Award, created to recognize exceptional volunteer leadership, service, and dedication to the arts in Hampton Roads.

We are proud to honor Marie Baker of the Suffolk Arts League as the first recipient of this distinguished award.

Her decades of service, advocacy, mentorship, and commitment to arts education have enriched countless lives across our region.
