Dear Chaverim,
As summer begins to wind down, it’s hard to believe how quickly the season has passed. The long days and relaxed pace of summer are giving way to September, and with it comes the familiar rhythm of back-to-school, busier schedules, and the start of another exciting year for NNJR.
For many of us, the end of summer means children and grandchildren heading back to school, vacations becoming wonderful memories, and calendars once again filling up with activities and commitments. It is also a perfect time for us to look ahead at what the coming year will bring for our clubs and our region.
And what a meaningful time of year it is on the Jewish calendar. The month of Elul invites us to reflect on the year that has passed and prepare ourselves for the High Holidays. Soon we will gather with family and friends to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, observe Yom Kippur, and then rejoice in the celebration of Sukkot and Simchat Torah.
These holidays remind us of the importance of connection—to our families, our communities, and to one another. That same spirit is at the heart of everything we do in FJMC.
Our branding captures it beautifully:
FJMC International
Friendship • Judaism • Mentorship • Community
These are more than just words. They describe what makes FJMC and NNJR special. Through our programs and activities, we create Friendship with brothers from our own clubs and from around the world. We strengthen our connection to Judaism through meaningful programs and observances. We provide Mentorship by sharing our knowledge and experience with the next generation of leaders. And, most importantly, we build Community—a place where everyone has a role and everyone has something to contribute.
As we enter this new Jewish year, I encourage each of us to think about how we can make a difference. Invite someone new to an NNJR or club event. Reach out to a brother we haven't seen in a while. Share an idea. Volunteer for a program. Become a mentor. Or simply be there for someone who needs a friend.
The new year gives us an opportunity for a fresh start, and I look forward to all that we will accomplish together. May the coming year be filled with good health, happiness, meaningful connections, and continued growth for our families, our clubs, and NNJR.
Shanah Tovah U’Metukah!
Wishing everyone a sweet, healthy, and fulfilling New Year. I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events as we begin another year together.
B’Shalom,
Larry Klioze
