Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation

The entrance hymn for tomorrow's 10:30 am service is Hymn 390 - "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty."

The text of "Praise to the Lord" was written by German theologian Joachim Neander in the year 1680. It is based on verses from several psalms, including Psalm 103 and Psalm 150, which ends with "Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!"

The tune, LOBE DEN HERREN, had been published earlier, in 1665. But after being altered to match Neander's text, it was forever associated with his great hymn text.

Let us join together tomorrow to joyfully sing this beautiful hymn to praise our Lord!

Spirituality and Secular Music class

Wednesdays at 6:00 pm

Join Fr. Jonathan on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm for class on spirituality and secular music.

The Christian perspective is that at the bottom of all longing and spirituality is God, even if the person expressing it is not aware or rejects the idea. There are spiritual insights - even in totally secular music.

Participants will hear a wide-ranging selection of secular music and interpret the lyrics through the lens of Christian faith. People are encouraged to bring their own songs and lyrics they wish to discuss.
