Axelrod Performing Arts Center Seeks Pre-professional Children Performers for brand new JOSEPH!

Director Nick Hrutkay, the award-winning director from the famed Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center in NY, is leading the creative team for the Axelrod PAC’s new production of JOSEPH which relies heavily on cast of young performers.

We are seeking experienced child performers, ages 10–14, to audition for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which runs on the main stage at the Axelrod PAC for three weeks, from November 6 through 22.

The Axelrod PAC is a professional regional theater that employs Actors Equity Association actors and stage managers. THERE IS NO FEE FOR STUDENTS to participate in the production. Children will not be compensated for performing.

“This is an amazing opportunity for Jersey Shore students to participate in one of the Axelrod Performing Arts Center’s professional musicals, working alongside an amazing cast of Broadway performers and first-class directors, choreographers and designers,” shares Andrew DePrisco, APAC Artistic Director.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat

Lyrics by Tim Rice | Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

Director: Nick Hrutkay · Music Director: Charles Santoro · Choreographer: Maggie Savoie · Casting Director: Michael Cassara

Producer: Andrew DePrisco

“Joseph is filled with boundless imagination as Lloyd Webber and Rice wrote this for children to perform and watch,” says director Nick Hrutkay. The creative team is reimagining the show to retell the Biblical story of Joseph and his eleven brothers through the eyes of modern young people. “Our production has a group of kids on a field trip to the museum and the Narrator dreams up a world where the museum comes to life as a pop/rock concert as we go back in time to tell the story. The kids then take over the museum and the adults in the cast become their playthings to give a childlike sense of fun and wonder to this whimsical family show.”
