Hey Christine,
I hope you had a good week. It's nice that we have had some blue skies lately so I hope you've been able to enjoy that small pleasure!
Last week I wrote about the importance of having empathy for our future selves. More often than not, we disassociate from this Future You version of ourselves. We somehow trick ourselves into thinking that Future Christine, will be able to harder things that the current version of ourselves can't seem to do, like get up early to exercise, or say no to dessert etc. The fact is, Future You is still just you and so if you are, please, if you know you need to make a change but just can't seem to be motivated enough to do it, don't think Future You will be either. The best time to start was yesterday, but the second best is right now. So get at it!
That said, sometimes visuals help more than just words, so I thought I would share this post by Dr Sam Spinelli. Below you will see an image of a cross section of three thighs, a 40 year old athlete, a 74 year old sedentary man and a 70 year old athlete.
The pictures say all you need to know. Exercise matters.
