Festival littéraire et culinaire 2026

Alexandria welcomed its very first francophone Festival littéraire et culinaire on Sunday, October 4, at Island Park, bringing together literature, food, tradition and community.

Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy interactive discussions, conversations and connections centered around the literary and culinary arts, with local authors, poets, chefs and artisanal producers taking part throughout the day.

The event was conceived by Laura Peck of Laura’s B&B in Alexandria, and Raphael Machiels and Delphine Petitjean of On a le choix Media - French-speaking entrepreneurs with a vision of creating a welcoming and inclusive gathering for Francophone and Francophile families from Eastern Ontario and Quebec.

Built around the joy of sharing good words and good food, respect for people and the environment, and taking the time to slow down and savour the moment, this first edition offered a wonderful opportunity to connect, discover and learn.

Congratulations to the organizers, participants, volunteers and vendors who helped bring this new community event to life in Alexandria!

New Business Spotlight

Super Boost Nutrition, 431 Main St., Alexandria

North Glengarry is pleased to welcome Superboost Nutrition, a new business located at 431 Main Street South, Door D, upstairs, in Alexandria. Owned by Catherine Lascelle, Superboost Nutrition opened in June 2026.

Superboost offers a variety of sugar-free energy drinks, protein drinks and snacks made with Herbalife products. Catherine was inspired to open the business after becoming a fan of Herbalife “tea bombs” herself and seeing an opportunity to offer something new in her hometown.

What began with local deliveries quickly showed there was interest in the concept — on one particularly busy day, Catherine prepared 37 drinks. As a young mom of three, she says she enjoys connecting with customers, sharing information about the products she offers and seeing people leave happy with their drinks.

Looking ahead to the holiday season, Superboost Nutrition will also be offering gift baskets and gift certificates. Residents can connect with Superboost Nutrition on Facebook or by calling 613-662-9881.

In Catherine’s words: ``Superboost hopes to be the place North Glengarry residents think of when they need “a boost of energy” or a convenient protein drink or snack on the go.``
