Our Principal, Mrs. Garrison, and Head Counselor, Ms. Thomas, are currently attending the Student Mental Wellness Conference in Anaheim! 🧠✨ This conference brings together educators and mental health professionals to explore innovative strategies that support student well-being.

By participating in this event, Mrs. Garrison and Ms. Thomas are gaining valuable insights into the latest tools and resources to further enrich the mental health programs at Winston. 💬💪 Our students will benefit from their commitment to fostering a healthy, supportive environment where they can thrive both academically and emotionally.

This past Wednesday, the Gardening/Environmental Club, led by Ms. Edwards, Ms. Good, and Ms. Pallisco, got their hands dirty and their green thumbs busy! 🌱

Students were pruning and planting a variety of exciting new additions to the garden, including pineapple tops, fresh herbs, strawberries, lettuce, and more. It was a great hands-on experience for everyone, and the garden is thriving thanks to their hard work! 🌾🍓

Stay tuned for more updates as we watch our garden grow! 🌱🍍

Earlier this week, Benjamin Nicholls, the Executive Director of the Hillcrest Business Association, returned to The Winston School for a discussion in Mr. Jacobsen's Ethnic Studies class. Nicholls shared his experiences in leading one of San Diego's most culturally diverse neighborhoods, emphasizing the role of community and business leadership in fostering inclusivity. His visit provided students with valuable real-world insights into how ethnic studies concepts are applied in local economies and community building, enriching their understanding of cultural diversity's impact on business and society.

The Winston School is proud to participate in the statewide earthquake drill on October 17, as part of The Great California ShakeOut. This important safety exercise ensures that our students, staff, and faculty are well-prepared in the event of an earthquake. At 10:17 AM, all participants will "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" to practice essential safety steps. The drill is an opportunity for our community to prioritize preparedness and ensure everyone knows the proper actions to take in the event of an emergency.

Students enjoy the company of Ms. Jana’s dog, Luna, as the perfect study partner during a quiet moment at school.

Supporting Winston Heroes: Empowering Our Students Together

We love sharing the inspiring words of one of our Winston Heroes, Julie Good, PhD, English Teacher, Learning Specialist, and Educational Psychologist at The Winston School. She expresses her deep connection with our community, saying:

"I LOVE The Winston School because it is a supportive and forward-thinking educational community. Our leadership team values students first and encourages professional growth. Our small setting allows me to build meaningful, individualized relationships with students as I collaborate with colleagues to promote growth and development for all students."

This passion for nurturing student success is what sets Winston apart. Every day, our dedicated educators like Dr. Good go above and beyond to ensure that each student’s unique learning needs are met. Winston’s commitment to fostering confidence, resilience, and empathy in our students is not just our mission—it’s a reflection of the heart of our school.

To continue offering this transformative experience for all our students, we need your support. Your generous contributions to the Annual Fund directly impact our ability to provide individualized learning, professional development, and the programs that make Winston exceptional.

By donating today, you help create an environment where students thrive both academically and personally.

Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference and helps ensure that Winston can continue to be the nurturing, forward-thinking community that Dr. Good—and all of us—love so much.

Thank you for supporting The Winston School and helping our students grow into confident, compassionate individuals ready to embrace their futures.
