O.C. Tober Fund

Every day, families face the heartbreaking reality of not being able to afford the care their beloved pets desperately need. That’s why the O.C. Tober Fund was created by Marilyn George—to ensure that no pet has to go without life-saving treatment simply because of financial hardship.

The Challenge

Marilyn has issued a challenge to all of us: For a limited time, every dollar you donate to the O.C. Tober Fund will be matched 1:1. This means that your generosity will have double the impact, allowing us to provide even more critical care to pets in need.

Take Macey, for example. She was in severe pain, and her family was devastated, unable to afford the surgery she required. Thanks to the O.C. Tober Fund, Macey received the care that saved her life. Now, she’s thriving and back home with those who love her.

Spreading Compassion Beyond the Shelter

At 16 years old, Flower was more than just a pet—he was his mom’s best friend and loyal companion. Both Flower and his owner were in hospice care when he was brought in for an ear infection. Dr. T treated the infection and sent them home, advising Flower’s mom to return “when the time was right.” Sadly, that moment came just a couple of months later.

After Flower’s peaceful euthanasia, one of our longtime volunteers went the extra mile. She accompanied Flower’s grieving mom home, helping her lay Flower to rest in a serene spot in their backyard. In a moment of raw honesty, Flower’s mom shared, “I’ve been struggling just to make ends meet, let alone afford vet care. Your kindness has meant the world to me.”

The O.C. Tober Fund helped Flower remain comfortable in his final days, giving his mom two extra months with him—moments she cherished.

There are many more pets like Macey and Flower, and we need your help to continue supporting them. Your contribution today will ensure we can keep the fund going, giving hope and a second chance to animals and their families.

Now is the time to act! The amount that can be matched is unlimited, so every donation you make will go twice as far in providing medical care to pets in need.

Ensure Your Legacy Lives On:

Estate gifts are one of the most impactful ways to support the causes that matter to you—like Windham County Humane Society—long into the future. By including a charity in your estate plan, you ensure that programs can grow, amazing staff can be hired, and our vital work continues without relying solely on immediate donations.

During National Estate Planning Awareness Week (October 21–27, 2024), we encourage you to consider creating or updating your estate plan. This simple act ensures that your legacy goes to the people, organizations, and causes you love most—not the State.

Have you thought about making an estate plan?

Here’s how your gift could continue to rescue and care for animals for years to come:

It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3:

  1. Prepare your Will.
  2. Name Windham County Humane Society as a beneficiary.
  3. Decide what to leave—whether it’s a percentage of your estate, specific assets, or a designation on retirement accounts like IRAs.

You have the power to make a lasting difference. By naming Windham County Humane Society in your Will, you ensure that animals in need are cared for and that future generations of pets will find loving homes.

If you have any questions or need more information, we’re here to help! Simply email us at info@windhamcountyhumane.org, and we’ll guide you through the process.

Secure your legacy and give animals a second chance at life.

Holiday Hours: The clinic will be closed on November 28th and 29th, as well as from December 25th to 27th. Please plan accordingly, and we look forward to assisting you when we reopen.
