Natural Resources Day
This month, the leadership cohort had the opportunity to explore the rich natural resources of Manistee.
Their adventure began with a visit to the Little Manistee River Weir, a facility managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources that focuses on egg collection and salmon harvesting. Following that, they made their way to the USDA Forest Service, where they engaged with staff members, including those from the Manistee County Conservation District. The cohort gained valuable insights into the initiatives aimed at fostering responsible stewardship of Manistee County's natural assets.
The day concluded back at 400 River Street, where cohort members exchanged ideas and made progress on their class project. A special thank you goes out to our Leadership Program alumna, Lacy Crummy, for generously sharing her expertise with the group!
We also extend our gratitude to our wonderful sponsors— Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital, Filer Credit Union, West Shore Community College, Republic Services, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan— for their support of the Manistee Area Leadership Program!
