NATIONAL BE LATE FOR SOMETHING DAY | SEPTEMBER 5
On September 5th National Be Late for Something Day permits us to not abide by our schedules. Go ahead and sleep in a little bit today as you have an excuse.
The holiday aims to promote the positive parts of procrastination. For example, those who focus more on spending quality time with customers and family versus being punctual seem less anxious overall.
“Most people think they don’t have time to stop and smell the roses. This day tries to alleviate that factor.”
~ Les Waas, Procrastinators' Club of America Founder
It certainly may be hard for some of us to do as we are taught to be punctual at all times. We are also trained to obey rules and follow regulations and schedules. In today’s busy lifestyles, the pressure to be here and be there causes us to watch the clock.
The observance urges us to ditch the clock for the day. Not only that but to forgive those who don't live by the clock. Consider those you know who are perpetually late. Do they seem stressed by their lateness? Or do they tend to shrug it off to your further annoyance? Attempt their light-hearted approach to time.
Another focus of the day takes a look at missed opportunities. Is it really too late to put that birthday card in the mail? We often look at chores with a skeptical eye. However, it's never really too late to get started on them. You know, those we've already put off. It might be okay to be delayed if we're working on a pile of laundry.

Heavy rain will be with us Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning. Development of this is possible although wind shear will increase over the next few days. Regardless, heavy rain will be the main concern with gusty winds along the coast. Some could see up to 10 inches of rain. By Saturday afternoon things begin to dry out.

The 8 Most Anticipated New Orleans Restaurant Openings This Fall
Diners can look forward to Korean fried chicken, a jamón bar, and late-night drinking food
by Clair Lorell
As the summer heat begins to wane in New Orleans — even temporarily — there’s fresh hope in the air: for a mild, uneventful end to hurricane season; that this year the Saints take the NFC South; and that the local crawfish supply returns plentiful. This fall is also expected to bring an abundance of new restaurant options that will rival a most exciting summer of game-changing openings. New Orleans diners can look forward to a lively spot for Korean fried chicken, onigirazu, and beer towers; an Emeril Lagasse tapas restaurant featuring a jamón bar; and a late-night cocktail den promising sophisticated food served past midnight. Here are New Orleans’s most anticipated restaurants opening this fall.
Where: 4714 Freret Street, Uptown
When: September 7, 2024
Perhaps the most exciting restaurant opening this fall is a Korean fried chicken and onigirazu (sushi sandwich) spot from couple Adolfo Garcia and Sophia Petrou, New Orleans natives who each descend from legendary New Orleans restaurant families. They’re preparing for a grand opening on Saturday, September 7, serving up a menu of double-fried, sauced-up chicken wings and sandwiches, steak katsu, kakigōri (Japanese shaved ice dessert), and onigirazu — specifically, spicy tuna cucumber, salmon jalapeño, seasonal veggie, and Korean fried chicken sandwiches made with onigiri rice as the “bread.”
AD
Where: 8312 Oak Street, Uptown
When: September 2024
The folks behind La Tia Cantina, the popular Metairie restaurant known for its cocktails and regional Mexican specialties, are opening a restaurant on Oak Street this fall. Aguasanta, taking over the former location of Magasin, will differ from La Tia, serving modern fusion with Mexican and Latin American influences. A seafood bar will serve ceviche, tiradito, aquachile, tartare, and oysters. and a wood-fired oven will dish out roasted meats and vegetables. Diners can expect beautiful cocktails as well.
AD
Where: 710 Baronne Street, Warehouse District
When: September 2024
Taking shape across the street from the CBD/Warehouse District Rouse’s in a huge historical building is 34 Restaurant and Bar, Emeril Lagasse’s “love letter” to his Portuguese heritage. Expect tapas-style shared plates, Portuguese specialties, and — perhaps most excitingly — a jamón bar sometime in September.
Beer-battered drum is on the menu at Junebug. Randy Schmidt/Junebug
Where: 748 Camp Street, Warehouse District
When: October 2024
Junebug is a new Warehouse District cocktail bar from the restaurant group behind nearby Devil Moon BBQ and Brewery Saint X, promising to serve a full menu, plus nightly specials, past midnight. The food, described as sophisticated bar food, is a slight departure for Louisiana pitmaster Shannon Bingham: French-inspired but with familiar Southern twists — dishes like croquettes monsieur, picked shrimp dip, blue crab gratin with pan con tomate, foie gras mousse with banana bread, and confit beef cheeks. The drinks have a twist, as well: House cocktails can be made two different ways, full-strength or refreshing. The restaurant, expected to open in October, will feature a bar, lounge area, and partially covered courtyard.
Where: 1030 Derbingy Street, Gretna
When: Fall 2024
AD
James Beard semifinalist Marlon “Chicken” Williams is awaiting final inspections for the second outpost of his wildly popular restaurant, Chicken’s Kitchen. Also located in Gretna, the Coop will introduce a build-your-own breakfast option (doors open at 6:30 a.m.) and feature the beloved meat and three dishes that Williams is known for. There will also be daily specials like yak-a-mein, a large menu of sandwiches, fresh-pressed juices, smoothies, and salads.
Where: 4920 Prytania Street, Uptown
When: Fall 2024
At their forthcoming Uptown restaurant opening this fall, La Cocinita food truck proprietors Benoit and Rachel Angulo are planning a bigger-than-ever menu of pillowy arepas, including vegan options, and a weekend brunch menu of empanadas, breakfast tacos, and breakfast bowls. Tropical cocktails, mimosas, margaritas, and mojitos, plus South American wines and beer are also on the menu.
Where: 1117 Decatur Street, French Quarter
When: Fall 2024
A year after opening one of New Orleans’s best new Indian restaurants, the chefs behind LUFU NOLA are branching out with a New Orleans-centric seafood restaurant in one of the most tourist-heavy areas of the French Quarter. Sarthak Samantray, Aman Kota, and Sachin Darade are working on a casual, drop-in restaurant focusing on oysters and fried seafood at the former home of Saint John (which has relocated to the CBD) to open sometime this fall.
The Husky
Where: 4510 Freret Street, Uptown
When: Late fall 2024
This nontraditional steakhouse is joining the Freret Street restaurant boom later this fall, opening in the space briefly home to Acropolis and before that, Wayfare. It’s from the owners and chef of Pigeon and Whale, an upscale, New England-centric seafood restaurant across the street. It will also emphasize atmosphere and design — this time, aiming for a ski lodge vibe rather than a nautical one. Expect hearty pasta dishes, fancy burgers, seafood, game meats, and of course, steak.
Later this year
Where: 4201 Magazine Street, Uptown
The Kingsway is opening late this year or early next, says the Vilkhu family. It follows Saffron, their acclaimed destination for fine-dining Indian cuisine that landed chef Arvinder Vilkhu a Best Chef: South James Beard Award nomination, and will meld East Asian and French flavors.
Where: 3125 Esplanade Avenue, Bayou St. John
Big-deal Charleston restaurateur Brooks Reitz is opening the Bell, a French-inspired New Orleans restaurant with an English pub vibe on Esplanade Avenue sometime this year. It takes over the space briefly home to the Post, previously Nonna Mia.

Five new restaurants to try in the Greater New Orleans area
by: Christian Olivier
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Greater New Orleans area is known for many unique cultural aspects, but perhaps the most noteworthy of them is the wide variety of food available to hungry inquirers from around the world.
For those who may be more accustomed to long-standing offerings, however, trying something new may very well be in order for an upcoming weekend out.
To help out prospective foodies, we’ve put together this list of five newly opened restaurants from across the culinary spectrum, hoping to offer something appealing to even the pickiest of eaters.
1. City Market
For a wide variety of foods and flavors, City Market at 1101 Elysian Fields Ave. in New Orleans is an ideal choice.
The market features six distinct eateries offering many items, including hamburgers, baked goods, sushi, bubble tea, Cajun staples and Vietnamese cuisine.
City Market may be a good option for groups of picky eaters, as the numerous options serve to provide something for everyone.
The establishment is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
2. Rascal Blues Chicken and Waffles
Rascal Blues, located at 1801 Rousseau St. in New Orleans, offers sweet and savory Southern foods for a comforting, at-home feeling.
The restaurant, which opened on Aug. 3, is of course known for their chicken and waffles, but also offers many soul-food staples such as greens, corn bread and mac and cheese.
Rascal Blues is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and may be the perfect choice for people looking for an indulgent meal in a family-centric, musical and culturally unique setting.
3. Tacos del Cartel
Back in April, Tacos del Cartel opened a fresh location in New Orleans at 1010 Girod St., and with renovations happening at their older Metairie location as well, now is the perfect time to check out this vibrant spot for street tacos and Tex-Mex cuisine.
The restaurant offers a wide variety of tacos for customers to choose from, including eight specialty options, such as their duck carnitas taco, and eight traditional options, such as the classic tacos de asada, which is made with flank steak.
Tacos Del Cartel also offers many sides, soups, desserts and larger meals for groups. The New Orleans location is open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., on Tuesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
4. Sushi Takumi
This new Japanese restaurant, located only a block away from the Superdome at 703 Carondelet St. in the Central Business District of New Orleans, was started in part because the owner, Johnny Wang, noticed a lack of affordable sushi restaurants.
Sushi Takumi has also recently gained notoriety from its introduction of a “Taylor Swift Roll” ahead of the singer’s upcoming show in New Orleans.
A walk through Cajun and Creole origins and histories
The restaurant offers many, many varieties of sushi for customers to choose from, including classics like the California and Crunchy Rolls, and specialty rolls like the House Steak Roll, made with shrimp, snow crab and seared beef with avocado inside and scallions, BBQ eel sauce and spicy mayo on top.
Sushi Takumi is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 11:30 a.m. 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. The restaurant is closed on Tuesday.
5. Savvy’s Sliders
Savvy Sliders, the fastest growing slider restaurant in the U.S., has opened a new location at 2565 Metairie Rd. in Metairie, bringing to this list a faster, more everyday kind of cuisine for the those who prefer to keep things simple.
One of Savvy’s main selling points is serving fresh, never frozen sliders in a variety of different configurations in order to meet anyone’s preference.
The fast-food joint offers simple staples on their sliders, such as angus beef, but also offer more unique options, such as the “Boomin’ Chicken” slider, made with fried chicken, pickles, lettuce and Savvy’s “Boom Sauce.”
For those less interested in sliders, the restaurant also features hand-breaded chicken fingers, fries, cheese curds, onion rings and well as nine different flavors of custard shakes.
Savvy’s Sliders is open from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

It’s Fettuccine Frenzy at Middendorf’s Manchac & Middendorf’s Slidell! Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in September, handmade paper-thin fettuccine is on the menu.
This mouth-watering dish is served with your choice of classic Alfredo or Marinara Sauce and topped with freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese with optional add-ons of shrimp, crabmeat and chicken.
- Fettuccine with Alfredo Sauce topped with freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese
- Fettuccine with Marinara Sauce topped with freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese
- Optional add-ons:
- Shrimp
- Crabmeat
- Chicken
- Side of Fettuccine topped with freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese
Fun Facts:
- Our handmade, paper-thin fettuccine was a guest favorite at Bella Luna in the French Quarter. Bella Luna was a fine dining restaurant owned and operated by Horst and Karen Pfeifer. It closed due to Hurricane Katrina and never reopened. The memory of Bella Luna lives on through Fettuccine Frenzy at Middendorf’s. Same Pasta. Same Taste. None of the Fancy.
- Middendorf’s Owner and European Master Chef Horst Pfeifer makes the fettuccine from scratch which consists solely of Semolina flour and eggs. It’s a very time consuming process to make the fettuccine so paper-thin, but it’s definitely worth it.
- Fettuccine is available all day (lunch and dinner).
- Our full menu is also available.
- Uncooked fettuccine is also available for purchase to make a quick meal at home.
We hope you can join us for Fettuccine Frenzy — Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in September!

"America" is a song written and originally recorded by Neil Diamond, released in 1980 on the soundtrack album of Diamond's film The Jazz Singer. The song was a hit single in the United States in 1981, reaching number eight on the Billboard Hot 100, and was Diamond's sixth number one on the Adult Contemporary chart. The song's theme is a positive interpretation of the history of immigration to the United States, during both the early 1900s and the present.

NATIONAL CHEESE PIZZA DAY | SEPTEMBER 5
On September 5th, National Cheese Pizza Day says, "Hold the toppings!" That's right, cheese is all you need when celebrating this pizza holiday. Whether the pie is homemade or ordered in, make it cheese only.
Add a variety of cheeses to your pie to celebrate. Smokey gouda or a little gorgonzola might mix it up. If you like a little cheddar, mild or sharp shredded across the top will do. Debates prevail over thin or thick crust. However, that debate is for another day. The cheese holds the spotlight on this occasion. In fact, thin-crust doesn't even have a day. How did that happen? However, deep-dish does. Check outApril 5thfor more information about it. AndNational Pizza Daygets piping hot on February 9th.
We do know a few things about pizza in general, though. In ancient Greece, they covered their bread with oils, herbs and cheese. Many believe this to be the beginning of the pizza. In Byzantine Greek the word was spelled πίτα, or pita, meaning pie. The Romans also developed a version of the pizza pie. Using bay leaves for flavoring, the Romans topped the dough with cheese and honey.
When it comes to the modern pizza, we turn to Italy. Their Neapolitan flatbread created the beginnings of the pizza we know and love today. It was topped with mozzarella cheese made from high-quality buffalo milk.
In the United States, we love our pizzas, especially cheese pizza. In 1997, it's estimated the United States produced more than 2 billion pounds of pizza cheese. That's a lot of cheese! Our passion for pizza began in 1905 when the first pizza eaty oped in New York's Little Italy. It's been a cheese love affair ever since.

10 Grammar Mistakes You Never Knew You Were Making
The Importance of Grammar in Communication
Grammar is the backbone of effective communication. It helps convey our thoughts clearly and accurately, ensuring that our messages are understood as intended. However, even the most seasoned writers and speakers can fall into the trap of common grammatical errors. Many of these mistakes are subtle and can easily go unnoticed. In this blog post, we will explore ten grammar mistakes you never knew you were making, helping you refine your writing and enhance your communication skills.
Misplacing Modifiers
Modifiers are words or phrases that provide additional information about a noun or verb. When modifiers are misplaced, they can lead to confusing or humorous interpretations. For example, consider the sentence: "I saw the dog running down the street with a broken leg." The way it’s phrased suggests that the dog has a broken leg, not that the leg is broken. To clarify, you would say, "I saw the dog with a broken leg running down the street."
Confusing "Fewer" and "Less"
The distinction between "fewer" and "less" is often misunderstood. "Fewer" is used for countable nouns, while "less" is used for uncountable nouns. For instance, you would say, "I have fewer apples than you," but "I have less water than you." This small grammatical nuance can significantly affect the clarity of your writing.
Using Apostrophes Incorrectly
Apostrophes are commonly misused, particularly when it comes to possessives and contractions. Many people confuse "its" and "it's." "It's" is a contraction for "it is," while "its" is a possessive pronoun. For example, "The dog wagged its tail" indicates possession, while "It's a sunny day" uses the contraction. Remembering this distinction can save you from looking unprofessional in your writing.
Subject-Verb Agreement
Subject-verb agreement is fundamental to grammatical accuracy. The subject and verb in a sentence must agree in number. This principle is straightforward with singular and plural subjects, but compound subjects can sometimes lead to confusion. For example, "The team are winning" is incorrect if you consider "team" as a single unit; it should be "The team is winning." Always ensure that your verb aligns with the subject to avoid confusion.
The Overuse of Commas
Commas can be tricky. While they are essential for clarity, overusing them can lead to choppy sentences. A common mistake is placing a comma before "and" in a simple series. For example, instead of writing, "I bought apples, oranges, and bananas," you might incorrectly write, "I bought apples, oranges, and, bananas." Reserve commas for necessary pauses, and ensure they enhance readability rather than hinder it.
"Who" vs. "Whom"
The distinction between "who" and "whom" often stumps even the most diligent writers. "Who" is used as the subject of a verb, while "whom" is used as the object of a verb or preposition. To determine which to use, you can rephrase the sentence. For example, "Who is going to the party?" becomes "He is going to the party," thus "who" is correct. Conversely, "To whom should I address the letter?" becomes "I should address the letter to him," making "whom" the right choice.
The Dreaded Run-On Sentence
Run-on sentences occur when two or more independent clauses are improperly connected without appropriate conjunctions or punctuation. This mistake can lead to confusion and a lack of clarity in your writing. For instance, "I love to read I have many books" is a run-on sentence. It can be corrected by using a period, semicolon, or conjunction: "I love to read, and I have many books." Learning to recognize and fix run-on sentences is vital for maintaining clear and effective communication.
The Passive Voice Pitfall
While the passive voice has its place, overusing it can weaken your writing. The passive voice emphasizes the action rather than the subject, often leading to vague statements. For example, "The ball was thrown by John" is passive. A stronger, more direct sentence would be, "John threw the ball." Aim for active voice to make your writing more engaging and dynamic.
Incorrectly Using "Lie" and "Lay"
The verbs "lie" and "lay" are often mixed up, causing confusion. "Lie" means to recline or rest and does not take a direct object, while "lay" means to place something down and requires a direct object. For instance, you would say, "I lie down for a nap," but "I lay the book on the table." Keeping track of these distinctions can enhance the precision of your writing.
Ending Sentences with Prepositions
Ending sentences with prepositions is a common grammatical debate. While traditional grammar rules often discourage this practice, modern usage accepts it, particularly for informal writing. For example, saying, "Where are you at?" is perfectly acceptable in conversation, but for formal writing, you might prefer, "At where are you?" Understanding when to adhere to traditional rules and when to adopt a more relaxed approach can help you navigate different writing contexts.
Improving your grammar skills is a continuous process, and recognizing common mistakes is the first step toward mastery. By being mindful of these ten grammar pitfalls, you can enhance your writing clarity and effectiveness. As you write, take a moment to review your work for these errors, and over time, you'll find that your writing becomes more polished and professional. Remember, good grammar is not just about avoiding mistakes; it's about communicating your ideas clearly and confidently.

The Soda Counter
The soda counter was a popular meeting spot for young and old alike. The introduction of carbonated beverages, as opposed to soft drinks, date back to 1767 when Englishman Joseph Priestly developed the method of infusing water with carbon dioxide to make carbonated water. Adding flavors to the bubbly water began around 1809 -- by the 184os there were more than 50 soft drink manufacturers.
In the late 19th century, John Stith Pemberton was selling a temperance drink-patent medicine beverage made from coca leaves and kola nuts that became known as Coca-Cola. Rival Pepsi was introduced by Caleb Bradham in 1893 in New Bern, North Carolina to aid in digestion and boost energy. And the rest is history...

What a Difference a Year Makes...
Vintage variation in wine refers to the differences in the characteristics and quality of wines produced from the same vineyard or region in different years. These variations are primarily influenced by the weather and climate conditions experienced during a particular growing season, including factors such as temperature, rainfall, and sunshine. In years with ideal weather conditions, such as a balanced mix of sun and rain, grapes can ripen perfectly, leading to a vintage with well-structured, flavorful wines. Conversely, a growing season with too much rain, frost, or extreme heat can result in grapes that are under-ripe, overripe, or unevenly developed, leading to wines that may lack balance or complexity. Additionally, the timing of the harvest, influenced by weather patterns, can impact the final wine, as grapes picked too early or too late may not achieve their full potential. As a result, each vintage offers a unique snapshot of that year’s conditions, making wine an ever-changing, dynamic product where no two vintages are exactly alike.
Wine vintages are then rated by a combination of wine critics, publications, and organizations that assess the quality of wines produced in a specific year. These ratings are typically based on factors such as the weather conditions during the growing season, the quality of the grapes harvested, and the overall character and potential longevity of the wines produced.
In this tasting, we'll discuss these variations and how certain growing conditions affect wine, good or bad. We'll be tasting wines from selected, highly rated vintages in their respective regions around the world, and then ask you to rate the wine and see how your ratings correspond to the vintage rating. Join David Sobiesk for this fun, tasting and informative event! For more information and tickets, go to Vintage Variation

Playmakers Theater been producing terrific shows from Covington’s Sans Souci Forest since 1955. This Saturday we raise the curtain on our 70th season with the uproarious comedy ‘Til Beth Do Us Part, by Jones Hope Wooten, the same team that wrote 2023’s sellout hit, The Savannah Sipping Society. Directed by Derek Thrush, the madcap comedy revolves around an ambitious, conniving assistant who attempts to take over her harried boss’s business and her husband.
‘Til Beth Do Us Part is a side-splitting comic romp about careens around the strained marriage of Gibby and Suzannah, a couple who have allowed their 27-year marriage grow stale. When new assistant Beth steps in the fireworks begin. Whether you’re married, single, rethinking your divorce or currently being controlled by someone up to no good, you’re sure to enjoy this family friendly, laugh-out-loud comedy.
The cast features Joanna Parr, Shawn Patterson, Stephanie Sayles, Jen Patterson, Laura Hayes, Daniel Jenkins, and Nada Elkassouf. Assistant director is Jen Patterson.
There will be some important changes at Playmakers Theater beginning this season. Evening curtain times will be 7:30 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. to help patrons navigate bridge construction traffic. We will also be adding Friday evening performances. And Playmakers will once again offer reserved seating.

LSU Athletics is proud to announce its year-long celebration of 100 Years in Tiger Stadium, highlighted by stadium upgrades, events, storytelling initiatives, and a season-long celebration throughout the 2024 campaign.
Tiger Stadium, one of America’s most iconic sporting venues, first opened its gates on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1924. Since then, the Tigers have won 450 contests in Death Valley, which has been home to two Heisman Trophy winners, four national championship teams, and 12 SEC title-winning squads.
Included in the celebration are several upgrades to Tiger Stadium, including a new videoboard and lighting system, as well as other upgrades designed to enhance the game day experience. Other events and celebrations will be announced throughout the year.
The 2024 home schedule features several marquee matchups, including home contests against Oklahoma, UCLA, and Alabama. Information on the full 2024 schedule and season tickets will be announced in the coming weeks.
One of the most legendary stadiums in all of college football, Tiger Stadium has been called “the best place in the world to watch a sporting event” by ESPN and “the pound-for-pound king of noise in college football.”
Entering its centennial season in 2024, Tiger Stadium has been a cornerstone of LSU Athletics and the Louisiana community for almost a century, hosting numerous NFL superstars, Heisman Trophy winners, and Hall of Famers since its opening in 1924. It serves as a sporting, cultural, and commercial hub for LSU Athletics, which contributes an estimated $500 million of economic activity for the state of Louisiana annually.

7:30-8:30 Lindy Hop Vocab - Intermediate Level
This class is gonna give you some must know moves, some technique, some philosophy, and of course, we'll continue to clarify and polish up your swing outs.

Comedy House New Orleans
The most unique comedy show in New Orleans is The Open Mic From Hell, hosted by Chris Trew (as seen on MTV, Comedy Central, America's Got Talent)
CHNO ( Comedy house New Orleans)
609-610 Fulton St
New Orleans, LA 70130
Mon, August 19
8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
(Entry at 7:30 pm)
The Open Mic From Hell is the most unique night of comedy in New Orleans.
Everything about the show is chaotic and unpredictable in the most beautifully hilarious way.
The list of performers? A total mystery.
The jokes they’ll tell? Nobody knows, not even them.
How does it work? Comedians sign-up on the list an hour before showtime. At least 13 names get pulled out of the bucket.
When a name gets pulled they come on stage and make a choice - do they do an entirely new set based on words from the audience, or a special challenge set.
Past challenges have had comics doing their set outside on the street, with noise canceling headphones on, and with a designated heckler in the crowd. We are always adding new, improved, and ridiculous challenges to the show.

Based on the 2003 movie, School of Rock: The Musical tells the story of Dewey Finn, a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school who turns his class into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the musical features 14 new songs and songs from the original movie.

Youth principals include Andrew Letellier as Zack Mooneyham, Merah Benoit as Katie, Drago Han as Lawrence, August Doussan as Freddie, and Olivia Yi as Summer Hathaway.
Nathan (Dewey) and four youth performers will be playing their instruments live on stage: Merah Benoit (Katie) will play bass guitar, Drago Han (Lawrence) will play keyboards, August Doussan (Freddie) will play drums, and Andrew Letellier (Zack) will play guitar. Some of the youth musicians are making their acting debuts (August Doussan) while others are seasoned performers (such as Merah Benoit) who are learning their instruments for their roles in this show.

August Doussan (Freddie) has been learning from local legendary drummers like Johnny Vidacovich and Stanton Moore, from an early age. At age 8, he joined School of Rock Metairie/New Orleans and quickly rose to become a drummer for the prestigious School of Rock House Band. His musical journey has taken him across 38 states on tour with his guitarist dad. This is his JPA debut.
