ICELAND'S GOLDEN CIRCLE

The Golden Circle is a scenic loop starting and ending in Reykjavík, featuring Iceland's most famous natural and historic landmarks.

Among them are:

Thingvellir National Park: It is special because it is a rare meeting point of dramatic geology and deep political history, sitting directly on the boundary of two drifting tectonic plates and serving as the birthplace of the world's oldest parliament

Geysir Geothermal Area: A valley in Haukadalur featuring bubbling hot springs and the highly active Strokkur geyser, which shoots boiling water 66 to 132 feet into the air every 5 to 10 minutes.

Gullfoss Waterfall: A massive, two-tiered glacial waterfall where the mighty Hvita river plunges 105 feet into a rugged narrow canyon.
