National Night Out - Celebrating Community

Our sincerest thanks to the more than 1500 residents who joined us earlier this week for National Night Out.

Our public safety teams enjoyed visiting with you all and getting to know you better. Town Center Park was filled with fun, food and live music on Tuesday evening.

This event helps strengthen our community by allowing us all to better connect with each other and build safer neighborhoods.

Sunnyvale is proud of the recognition this annual event brings to our community. The 2025 event ranked fourth in Texas and eighth nationally within the population category of 5,000 - 15,000.

We'll keep everyone up to date about how we fare in the 2026 event rankings.

Collins Road Landscaping, Roundabout Update

The Town of Sunnyvale acknowledges the challenges in completing the landscaping improvements to the Collins Road roundabout and the frustration residents have expressed about this project.

Town Manager Dannette Garcia says, “As your new Town Manager, I am reviewing how the project was planned and managed to identify where we can improve communications and oversight. We will use those findings to strengthen project planning and communication so residents can have greater confidence in the Town’s ability to complete future projects on schedule.”

Here is a recap of the project activities and an update on progress. Following the successful completion of Collins Road improvements, the Town began work on a beautification project at the roundabout featuring landscaping and hardscaping. However, a series of work stoppages and change orders have extended the project timeline. Broadly, these changes related to subsurface utilities and irrigation, electrical design and revisions to hardscaping.

More recently, an underground water leak was detected while pressurizing the lines for the fountain and the leak was subsequently repaired. An additional change order has been identified to modify the height of the electrical panel and to add small drainage openings to the wall along the east side of the roundabout. This will address ponding around the panel in exceptionally heavy storm events which exceed the capacity of the drainage under the fountain. This additional change order will extend the project's final completion date to late November.

The Town is working diligently to bring this project to completion and to minimize disruptions to the community in the interim. For more information, please email townengineers@sunnyvaletx.gov or call (972) 203-4173.

We're Fans of Fudge!

Fudge is an 8-year-old male chow chow

Fudge is as sweet as his name suggests, thanks to his friendly demeanor and low maintenance. His daily agenda may look something like this: First, a leisurely walk to check out the neighborhood sights, followed by a tasty treat, and curling up right at your feet while you read, watch TV or work on your laptop. Fudge would fare best in a family without children.

We are passionate about finding permanent homes for all the animals in the shelter. Come visit them at the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter, 371 Long Creek Road. Learn more by visiting our Petfinder page or calling 214-862-4525.
