MAYOR'S UPDATE

From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin

In response to recent international and national events, including incidents of violence abroad and the recent shooting at Brown University, the Ossining Police Department has increased vigilance and is working in close coordination with County law enforcement partners. We remain fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY EXECUTIVE KEN JENKINS STATEMENT ON AUSTRALIAN ATTACK ON JEWISH COMMUNITY

“In light of the horrific shooting in Australia, the Westchester County Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center and Intelligence Unit are actively monitoring all known holiday-related activities and scheduled events in Westchester. Patrol resources are being directed to houses of worship throughout the County as a precautionary measure. In addition, the County Police will be coordinating with the Westchester County Chiefs of Police Association to keep all agencies apprised of related events and to encourage patrols of houses of worship in their respective jurisdictions. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and the communities impacted by the tragic acts of violence in Australia and at Brown University.”

Please join us on Wednesday, December 17th @ 6:00 PM for the annual Menorah Lighting event in Market Square. This holiday celebration marks the celebration of Chanukah, an eight-day festival of lights. Our entire community is welcome to attend. Bring the whole family!

Be sure to stop by Village Hall or the Birdsall-Fagan Police Station to donate an unwrapped gift for our community's 2025 Toys for Tots Holiday collection.

This Sunday, December 21st, beginning at 9:00 AM outside of St. Augustine's, Santa will be traveling throughout the Village and Town of Ossining on an Ossining Fire Department fire truck for our annual Candy Cane Run!

As always, Santa (who knows who's been naughty and nice) will be handing out candy canes and stopping for pictures. Be sure to check the Candy Cane Run Route (https://bit.ly/3Td7ZvO) and tune into the Ossining Police Department's Facebook page for location updates!

The Village and Town of Ossining are proud to uphold a cherished tradition: the Inauguration Ceremony for its newly elected officials.

This significant event, marking the beginning of a new term, is scheduled for Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 12:00 PM (noon).

The ceremony will be held at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center, located at 95 Broadway in Ossining.

Please join us in marking this important transition and demonstrating our collective dedication to Ossining’s future. We look forward to sharing this momentous occasion with you.

This week’s Legislative Meeting will take place at 7:30PM at the Courthouse on Wednesday December 17th.

Some items of note:

  • We will begin with the annual presentation from the CPCRB (Civilian Police Complaint Review Board)—our new chair Mike Aurora will present.
  • We will then have one long resolution for the 2026 Cabaret Licenses we have lined up thus far.
  • There will also be one standalone resolution for the BOT to approve the awning overhanging the Village sidewalk at Caribe Sports Bar (84 Croton Avenue).
  • The Board will have a resolution to formally establish the “Police Relationship Advisory Committee”, an evolution of the former PRAC (Police Reform Advisory Committee).
  • The Board has a resolution to authorize the additional agreement with our parking enforcement vendor FBS for the annual maintenance of the parking permit portal.
  • Finally, under New Business, there is a resolution to sign an agreement with a technology vendor working with the OFD on the LOSAP implementation.
