Dear Bengal Parents and Families,

|
We are so proud of what our students have accomplished this semester. Without their dedication and willingness to do what was necessary, we could not have maintained in-person classes. We know that moving to hyflex and distance-based instruction was a great challenge for many of our students. We saw their creativity, goodwill, and determination every day, and we have been inspired by their Bengal spirit!
As your students return home for the break, the Center for Disease Control has recommended taking extra precautions so that we can all safely enjoy the holidays with loved ones. At Idaho State, we have also been providing free Covid testing for students and providing the following information about symptoms and testing.
If you or a member of your family have symptoms of COVID-19 (see list below), contact The University Health Center at 208-282-2330 immediately.
- Congestion or runny nose
- Scratchy or sore throat
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- New loss of taste or smell
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
Please note that the Covid-19 test represents a snapshot in time. A negative test result does not mean you are free from COVID-19. It provides some reassurance that you were not infected on the day that you were tested. While you await your test result and after you receive your result, you should continue to exercise all recommended precautions, including wearing a face covering, physical distancing from others, and washing hands regularly. If you develop any symptoms of COVID-19 after you are tested, you should isolate immediately and contact your provider to discuss getting tested again.
While the pandemic is at the forefront of our thinking right now, there are also important positive events on the horizon for your student. If your student is contemplating a change of major, now is a perfect time to connect with the Career Center and explore career options with the experts. If your student has not yet registered for spring semester, now is the time! To best support their academic success and progress and to ensure they get the classes they want and need, it is critical that students consult advisors and register prior to the winter break. We have academic advisors available for online appointments. Does your student need financial or other person assistance? Give us a call at (208) 282-2794, or check out our resources at isu.edu/studentaffairs/.
We are also working on ways to support our Bengal parents and families find the information they need to help support their students. We will be hosting an online Bengal Parents and Family Town Hall in December and would be delighted to have you join us. We will have representatives from the Dean of Students office, housing, advising, financial aid, counseling, and more. We will provide information about the university’s Covid-19 plan, your students’ academic and social experience at ISU, and what they can expect for the spring semester. We will, of course, be ready to answer your questions. As soon as we have a confirmed date and time, we will communicate that information to you.
Your student has a dream for their career and life, and you have dreams for yours student. We’re here to support those dreams.
Roars truly,
Lyn Redington, Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management

Know a student thinking about applying to medical or dental school?
|
Do you know a student who is thinking about applying to medical or dental school?
The Pre-Health Professions Advising Office has a committee that can evaluate students' medical or dental application materials. The committee also provides a mock interview and feedback on how to strengthen the application. Materials will be accepted from December 1, 2020, to February 1, 2021.
If a student is a junior or senior and a pre-medical or pre-dental student, they should visit the Health Professions Advisory Committee’s webpage at isu.edu/hpac to learn how they can participate in this process. For questions, email hlthprof@isu.edu.

We are excited to virtually celebrate your accomplishments on December 12. It is our hope that you will participate in the virtual commencement ceremony. Many of you have questions about what that ceremony will look like, what to do with your regalia, and how you can still celebrate this milestone with your friends and family. To help answer your questions, we have compiled answers to frequently asked questions. READ MORE
