Dear St John’s Family,
Thank you very much! One hundred fifty-eight households have now pledged $859,040 toward our goal of $1,125,000, which puts us at 76 percent and ahead of where we stood a year ago. The average pledge is up seven percent, which tells us that many of you have taken that Faithful Step on our stewardship journey and increased your pledge for 2027. We are extremely grateful.
For everyone still deciding, please do consider that Faithful Step. In our first letter this fall we included a chart designed to help you determine what is best for you and your household. And if this is simply not a good time for you to step up your pledge, please know that any amount is generous, is appreciated, and will move St. John's along.
If you are new to St. John's, we are delighted that you are here. Pledging has never been a condition of belonging at this church and it never will be. A first pledge is simply a way of saying you are glad to be among us, and we would be glad to have it at any amount.
Your pledge is what makes an ordinary week at St. John's possible: worship and music, Sunday school and the Day School, the hospital visit on a hard afternoon, and the outreach that goes from here into Lynchburg.
Making your pledge is easy and can be done several ways. Go to stjohnslynchburg.org/give. Pick up a card and envelope in the commons area and place it in the offertory plate or turn it in at the office. Or simply call the church office at (434) 528-1138 and ask for Nicole, who can enter your pledge for you right over the phone.
Christopher arrives on November 1, and we would love to welcome him to a parish whose year ahead is already funded and underway.
Thank you for all you do for St. John's.
With gratitude,
Your Stewardship Committee
