THE LEAD STORY

The Chamber's Most Important Work Happens When You're Busy Running Your Business

Most business owners don't have time to monitor legislation, attend committee hearings, track regulatory proposals, or review thousands of bills introduced during each legislative session.

That's where the Northwest Valley Chamber steps in.

The Chamber recently released the 2026 Legislative Scorecard, providing a transparent review of how Arizona lawmakers voted on issues affecting employers, entrepreneurs, and taxpayers.

The scorecard covers workforce development, independent contractor protections, healthcare options, property rights, water policy, taxation, tourism, and regulatory reform.

While networking events, referrals, direct-to-consumer events, and marketing may be the Chamber's most visible activities, advocacy often delivers some of the greatest long-term value.

The Chamber works with legislative partners throughout the year to monitor issues that impact Arizona's business climate and communicate business concerns to policymakers.

"Businesses should be able to evaluate elected officials based on their actions, not campaign promises," said Raoul Sada, President & CEO of the Northwest Valley Chamber. "The scorecard gives employers a factual resource for understanding decisions that affect Arizona's competitiveness."

GROWTH & INVESTMENT

Peoria's Next Growth Wave

North Peoria continues to attract major investment as population growth drives demand for shopping, dining, healthcare, and commercial services.

Projects underway include a new retail and restaurant corridor at Five North at Vistancia, a future specialty grocer planned by SimonCRE, an HonorHealth healthcare campus, additional industrial development, and new recreational amenities.

The Trailhead development near Happy Valley Road also continues expanding its tenant mix with new restaurants and retailers.

For businesses looking at future expansion, North Peoria is rapidly transforming from a residential growth area into a major commercial destination.

Why This Matters: More rooftops create more customers, more employees, and more business opportunities.

TSMC's Ripple Effect Reaches Surprise

The impact of TSMC's historic Arizona investment continues spreading throughout the West Valley.

Taiwan-based Uangyih Industrial Company recently acquired a 107,400-square-foot industrial building in Surprise to support semiconductor manufacturing operations.

The company joins a growing list of suppliers establishing a presence throughout the region as Arizona's semiconductor ecosystem expands.

Additional supplier activity is occurring in El Mirage, North Phoenix, and Peoria as advanced manufacturing investment continues attracting complementary businesses and service providers.

The opportunity extends far beyond chip manufacturing itself. Growth is creating demand for contractors, logistics companies, engineering firms, professional services, workforce housing, and business support providers.

Why This Matters: One of the largest economic development opportunities in Arizona history continues creating ripple effects across the West Valley.

Sprouts Picks Estrella

A Sprouts Farmers Market-anchored shopping center is planned for Goodyear's Estrella community, filling a long-anticipated retail need in one of the West Valley's fastest-growing residential areas.

The project will feature a new Sprouts location, additional inline retail space, and future restaurant opportunities overlooking the lake. Groundbreaking is expected in early 2027.

As new residents continue moving into Estrella, developers and retailers are increasingly responding to demand for neighborhood shopping, dining, and services closer to home.

Why This Matters: Retail investment often signals confidence in long-term population growth and creates new opportunities for local businesses and service providers.

New Battery Storage Rules Move Forward In Surprise

The City of Surprise has taken another step toward establishing regulations for battery energy storage facilities, an increasingly important component of Arizona's growing energy infrastructure.

After extensive discussion and industry feedback, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended a 150-foot setback requirement from residential areas. The proposal now heads to City Council for final consideration.

As data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities, and population growth increase electrical demand throughout Arizona, communities are working to balance safety concerns with future energy needs.
