Welcome The Rev Dr. Douglas P. Johnson
Our "Supply Priest Plus"
Hi everyone! For now and the foreseeable future I will be the clergy person of record for the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection.

By agreement with the Vestry, though, I will not be a traditional Interim Rector. The way we have chosen to describe my role is Supply Priest Plus. What that means is that I will be handling the worship at church most every Sunday (except the last Sunday of the month) and I will be available for any pastoral need.

What I won’t be doing is attending Vestry meetings or directing the overall life of the parish. You’ve had excellent clergy leadership in the past and now have a very gifted Vestry in place for those sorts of things. Bill Carle, the senior warden, needs and deserves your support during this time. AND, each of you have been called by God to be in this parish.

So, please continue doing what you do and exercise leadership in your corner of the kingdom.  If you are going into the hospital or find yourself in need of a priest, please do not hesitate to call. My cell phone number is 816-289-3684. We will survive this interim time together and discover, I am sure, a bright future for our parish. Know of my love, keep your leaders in your prayers, and pray especially for the Holy Spirit to raise up our next rector. See you in church!
Love,
Fr. Doug +
First Sunday Breakfast
9:00 am Between Services
Fall is finally here after a very hot summer!

Join fellow parishioners this Sunday beginning at 9:00 am between services for our monthly First Sunday Breakfast.

Enjoy pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon and the best fellowship you'll ever find. All while praising God for all our blessings.
Stewardship Kick-off Sunday
"More Than Enough"
This Sunday we kick-off our Annual Stewardship Campaign with the theme of More Than Enough.

The theme for our campaign brings us back to the miracle described in Luke’s Gospel of being fed by Jesus from a few loaves and fishes. The people in that story heard Jesus’ call to share what they had in order that all might benefit.

You are that inspiration and action in our parish. Without each and every person our church and our ministry would be diminished. This Sunday you will receive an invitation to pledge the gifts you will make in the coming year to help our church and our neighbors.

Let us pray together as we launch our annual gathering of gifts and consider with gratitude how each will contribute a financial gift to support our parish in 2023. No gift is too small.
Survey Results Presentation
9:15 am this Sunday

Bonfire and Cookout at the Biggs
At Biggs Field
Join us on Saturday, October 8, at 5:30 pm for the annual Biggs' Bonfire and Cookout behind the home of John and Joyce Biggs; 30404 Pink Hill Rd in Grain Valley. Please sign-up in the narthex.

We'll be serving hot dogs and s'mores. Hot drinks will also be available. Bring your favorite beverage.

Please also bring your own lawn chairs, flashlights and blankets to keep warm. The Biggs will ferry people to the field in their golf cart

It gets very cool and dark when the sun goes down!
A final message from Father David Lynch +
Dear people of Resurrection,

I want to thank all of you again for your love and generosity shared with Debbie and me.

Last Sunday was over the top and we will forever remember the service and celebration. In my love for you, please accept my gratitude for all the ministry groups, leaders and members who give to make Resurrection the Body of Christ that it is.  You can only know how much you make a difference by trusting in God and by loving unconditionally. I have witnessed that in you and the effects your work have had in the community.

At the reception following the service, I was remiss in not sharing my sincerest of gratitude to the Daughters of the King. Without their work, perseverance and prayer I could not fully live into my priesthood as your rector. The love that is generated and shared by this “Order of the Faithful”, keeps the Holy Spirit engaged in all who are prayed for and all who are served by these DOK warriors.

Please know my prayers for Resurrection and all its members and friends remain in my daily prayers as I lift to God my calling for confidence and assurance for the days and months ahead as you discern the calling of your new rector. I also ask God’s blessing on Fr. Doug Johnson and his wife Sue as they take on their roles to serve Resurrection during this important time.

May the peace of God and presence of Christ be with you all as I remain connected to you with the Holy Spirit.

Sincerely,
Fr. David +
