From Your Administrative Team

Hello Families,

Thank you, thank you, thank you! The love, care and kindness (not to mention the treats!) poured into our staff during Staff Appreciation Week was beyond generous. We are so grateful to be in community with all of you! We are so appreciative <3

Happy Mother's day to all who nurture, mother, and take care of other humans--we hope you feel seen and are given an opportunity to rest this weekend!

To continue the love, we will be hosting a morning bar to appreciate Parent Educators on Tuesday and Thursday during drop off, starting at 8:30am! Come join us for coffee, tea, and breakfast treats for Parent Educator appreciation!

We will wrap up state testing next week with the Physical Fitness test! Any students who have tests to complete will be sent an e-mail regarding make-up testing opportunities in the following weeks.

This week for AAPI Heritage month, we are sharing this list of documentaries and videos from PBS highlighting stories from the AAPI community!

May is also Mental Health Awareness month! Don't forget to check out the the wealth of information found at South Bay Families Connected!

Finally, we'd like to ask that you take a few moments to let us know how we're doing! Please spend a few thoughtful minutes completing the Da Vinci Schools Spring Parent Survey. We look through each response and use this data to inform our decision making across sites and org-wide!

Take Good Care,

Kaitlin (she/her) and Sage (he/him)

Presentations of Learning

Beginning the Week of May 22nd

Presentations of Learning are happening soon! This signature practice at all Da Vinci Schools gives students an opportunity to reflect on their year and share what they've learned as individuals to a small panel of peers and adults in the community. You should check in with your teacher for specific information regarding your child's POL. We hope you will be able to join us to share in this end-of-year presentation! We can't wait to celebrate the reflection and learning that has taken shape in our community this year. For a quick peak at what POLS can look like, check out this video from our friends over at High Tech high!

Garden Club on Tues/Thurs Mornings!

We will be meeting on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the blacktop garden area from 8:45 to 9:10 am.  Please use the appropriate sign-in sheets located in the front office. Thankfully, we're making a great amount of progress and we can see the GROWING excitement from our students who visit the garden space on a regular basis. The next phase of the project includes creating opportunities for our "Student Garden Ambassadors". This initiative could include creating a 'Homeschool' learning opportunity for a community service activity.  Parents who are interested in learning more about the project objectives or joining the Garden Club committee, we will be posting updates and other invitations to support the project in the weekly newsletter. *If you are continuing with us or are a new family wanting to expand your gardening experience, please click HERE to complete a short survey. For questions and comments email jdurham@davincischools.org
