Celebrate Pride Month

At the Gender Equality Coalition of Ontario, we move beyond performative and rhetorical to active allyship and support for the 2SLGBTGQIA+ community. The @queermomentum letter to the Prime Minister and the minister of WAGE sounding the alarm about anti-2SLGBTQIA+ hate and calling on the government to do more. We want to #endallhate.

Gender Equality Summer Party

On June 23, we held our annual summer garden party. Thanks to all members of our GECO board who were able to join the party.

Summer is often a great time to find some time to rest, reset, and unwind.

On June 21, GECO participated in Indigenous Solidarity day in Wortley Village.

Some of you might wonder if we should celebrate Canada day because it is really a celebration of colonialism. Last year, many Canadians chose to honour the Indigenous children, who's lives were lost in residential schools.

BOARD MEMBER OF THE MONTH!

Rachel Morrison

Rachel joined the Board of GECO in February 2023 after connecting with us through the Young Leaders program. Bringing governance, leadership and marketing experience, she serves as the Board’s Secretary and is working to improve organisational safe practice. Rachel’s professional highlights include supporting over 150 survivors of gender-based violence to live free from abuse, and successfully conducting multiple suicide interventions to bring those in crisis to safety. She prioritises well-being for all, which is what makes her so passionate about the work of GECO. Rachel looks forward to educating our community to co-create a future free from gender-based discrimination, in partnership with the Gender Equality Coalition of Ontario.

Evening Gala and AGM

You are invited!

Join us at the beautiful Wolf Performance Hall in downtown London. This evening reception to celebrate gender equality will feature an exquisite sound bath musical experience, local spoken word poetry, a short presentation about the fifth wave of feminism, and a silent auction that will include the sale of local art. You will learn about community activism and how to become more involved in seeking gender justice for all. You will have an opportunity to network and mingle.
