Field Trip to New Rochelle & Save the Date for the Big-OSS BBQ
Last week Town Supervisor
Dana Levenberg
, Village Manager Karen D’Attore and I visited the economic development team in New Rochelle. Their approach incorporates a number of innovative strategies for addressing big challenges like parking and demands on the school district. As different as our village is from this city, there are adaptable ideas that could be valuable particularly as we embark on updating our Comprehensive Plan.
Save the Date!! The Big-OSS BBQ is happening October 19 at Henry Gourdine Park! After another marathon village board meeting on the subject, the trustees ultimately voted to pass the resolution needed for the event to take place. Everyone involved is looking forward to an exciting event at the waterfront celebrating the terrific food and beverage businesses that contribute so much to our community!
This experience has shed light on an inconsistent application of existing fees, alcohol previously served in violation of state liquor laws, and some misguided intentions of Village code. Village management is preparing to improve on past practices with a recommended new approach for the 2020 event season. I look forward to Ossining doing a better job serving all the hard working event organizers, our local businesses, and the whole community in the future.
