Our Mission: To serve nutritious meals to those in need in a safe, welcoming place
Kitchen construction is underway! After a long effort, we successfully conquered all the city requirements to start building the 1st kitchen in Collin County devoted to ending food insecurity. Like everyone in 2020, plans have had to be re-adjusted. Construction supplies and labor have been seriously interrupted, and material costs have skyrocketed. All of these factors have presented unexpected challenges, but we are steadily moving forward. The shell of the building should be completed by the end of January and then work will start to complete the dining room interior, restroom area, the kitchen, irrigation and required landscaping.
The roof is complete, cupolas in place, the siding is up, waiting for paint, doors and windows installed. If all goes well, our current estimated time to open is in the late spring.
If You Love Gardening .....
Join the CGK Gardening Team. Starting in January, we will be building raised beds, planting seasonal vegetables, herbs and flowers. The year round garden will not only supply food to the kitchen, it will also serve as a teaching garden to show kids and adults how to plant and harvest the things they grow. Come help us build a beautiful, peaceful oasis in the middle of town.
To our Donors and Volunteers!
It is with heartfelt thanks that we recognize all that you have done and given to get CGK this far! Please know this could not have happened without your amazing contributions. We rely on your ongoing and continued support. Please consider a gift to help us complete our mission.
It's not too late to participate in the CGK Kitchen Shower!
We have been hearing how much people have enjoyed shopping online for some of the much needed items and equipment that will be required to prepare meals for our guests. Equipping a kitchen is a tall order, and our volunteers who love to cook will be so happy to use these gifts. Check it out at:
Thank you to all who have participated so far!
Have a blessed and joyous Christmas
