Banner Hospital New Proposed Parking Garage

Presentation at Oct 22 JPNA meeting

Banner Hospital presented its initial proposal to remedy a critical shortage of parking for its employees, which is to build an additional structure just east of the current one. This plan is a preliminary look, and construction is not due to begin until early 2027. Neighbors voiced concerns about lighting, added traffic, noise, and construction parking in the neighborhood. It is also our hope that decorative mitigation fencing between Banner and the neighborhood will be part of this project. Kristian Watkins, Banner's Sr. Director of Facilities, will be providing contact information as to how neighbors can comment. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

Two Traffic Circles Scheduled for Repair

Funding the repair of the traffic circles: At the Oct 22 meeting, JPNA approved the cost of the repair for the cost of the traffic circle at Edison and Fremont and the one at Lester and Vine, about $2500 for both.

Traffic Circle at Lester and Santa Rita: The estimates for the damaged traffic circle at Lester and Santa Rita involve the cost of designing another piece of art that reflects that historic corner (?), the cost of fabrication of that design($3000-$7000) and finally the cost of installation ($500)

Help with the Funding - Buy Jim Click Tickets

The Jim Click Millions for Tucson 2025 edition has begun!  Mr. Click is raffling off three great prizes this year: the Grand Prize is a new 2025 Kia Carnival Hybrid SX Prestige (MSRP $54,510).  The second prize is two round-trip, first-class airline tickets to anywhere in the world (some restrictions apply) and the third prize is $5,000 in cash.

One hundred percent of the ticket revenue we collect stays in our neighborhood! You gamble and we all win!

Lend A Hand is having a huge PLANT SALE

TEP and 100+ft Poles through Jefferson Park

Bottom line - overhead lines are NOT a done deal! They are not good for Jefferson Park!

The neighborhood and Underground Arizona disagree with TEP about overheading lines in Jefferson Park and the center of the city. The city may still have the ability to prevent overheading as per the UA Area Plan. The city has not yet approved the substation.

RTA special Election- March 2026

Finish our Grant Road Project

..if the 1/2 cent sales tax passes in March

Plan to go before Voters in March

The election for the plan and a half-cent sales tax to fund it will be held on March 10, 2026. If approved in March, would not increase the current tax rate.

.....

Included in the plan total is $257.6 million to complete seven roadway corridor projects from the original RTA plan, which Pima County voters approved in 2006. The projects either are re-scoped or require additional funding that require voter approval. That is the Grant Road section on JP's north boundary. (PAG Sept 18 newsletter)
