At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Medicaid temporarily ceased revalidation for providers. Medicaid has now resumed revalidation for providers. Providers will be notified when they are scheduled for revalidation. In response to the AOA and affiliates’ redoubled efforts to identify and address health and vision plan abuses that devalue the primary eye health and vision care provided by doctors of optometry, the AOA offers a new online resource for members to track the latest third-party advocacy on their behalf.

The AOA Health and Vision Plan Action Report is members’ log of AOA and affiliate advocacy efforts in support of full reimbursement and fair coverage policies. While a daily snapshot of specific plan actions is published in members’ First Look emails, a complete and searchable database is now available for members’ reference at the AOA website. The action report will be regularly updated with AOA and affiliate outreach efforts with plans.

Launched in April, the action report offers transparency about plans’ actions and how they affected doctors of optometry, as well as the action taken and results secured by the AOA and affiliates.
